Been a while since I owned one. I'm contemplating the purchase of another. Will post it later if the negotiations pan out.

(2020 update: they didn't, but I did eventually get this one):

I know I have one but I can't find it. I bought it with a lot of other coins in 2017. I set them aside to deal with my 2018 purchases. I'm behind in them as well. Feuchtwanger Cents are a very interesting coin.

Oh I had no idea those even existed. I like them very much. I hope your deal pans out.

It’s very interesting that these were created with the permission of the government... never heard of these either- thanks!

His coins are actually tokens made to circulate during the coin shortage of 1836-1844.

He only produced one and three cent in 1837 and a three cent in 1864. A total of 4 different tokens exist.

I can't blasted find it, and the piece itself is 'way' buried in the collection. Sorry fellows.....

I had a holed one on my old Holey Coin Vest (speaking of photos buried too deep in the desolate ruins of Photobucket, which is a horrifying site to visit today.)

Here is the one I'm thinking of buying. PCGS XF45. They get pricey in AU and above. This XF45 ain't exactly cheap.

(Edit- I liked that one for its "crusty" appearance, but ended up purchasing a PCGS AU53 example in February of 2020.)

I love these although there is not one currently in my collection. Maybe I will have to change that.

I love Feuchtwangers. Especially those crazy 3c pieces they made in New York or something. Eventually I want to get some cents and try to collect the die varieties. but first let's wait till I can afford one ;)

The 3c pieces are cool, but scarce. I've never seen one in person.

Can't seem to find pics of mine. It was a raw buy with a couple of problems, small scratches, I think. People seemed to have a hard time resisting messing with them!

That's a great token - got me wanting one.
But I have a serious question:

    How do you pronounce"Feuchtwanger"?

I always used to pronounce it as though there was no t, but according to dictionary.com... [foikht-vahng-uhr]

Here is my example, and I can see how pronouncing that word can give you
    trouble!:)

Where do you get the idea they were made with the permission of the government? There was no law that said people couldn't their own tokens. It wasn't a case of having permission, it was a case of them not going out of their way to stop them.

Won't be going after this one after all- I made offers on an ancient and a medieval bracteate instead. I'll still be checking these out occasionally, however.
