I thought this one would be very interesting...When was the last time you received a coin with any silver content in change during a normal business transaction? And what was it? For me it was about 2 and half years ago at a gas station...got a 1962 dime...neat story behind that actually...but anyway, would love to hear from others.
Probably from Radio Shack about 2 years ago. I left there with like 18 silver dimes. I recieved 1 in change, and my friend also received one so I was suspicious. I asked if the cashier had any old dimes in the register and he gave me them all (for face). That was a good day.
So far we have Radio Shack (with a major haul) and a gas station....just trying to keep up with WHERE they come from...ie. gas station, Burger King...whatever. Just for fun of course
Last silver was about 3 years ago. Got a quarter then about 2 weeks later I got a dime. It had been about 2-3 years before that since I got anything, so it was strange to get 2 so close together
About three years ago I was in an auto parts store. The young cashier dropped my change and I heard the familiar ring of silver. He apologized and said that is probably fake and offered me a different quarter. Told him the quarter he dropped suited me just fine. Then Memorial Day this year I was on vacation with the family at the beach and received a very worn liberty head nickel from an oceanside watering hole. Wasn't silver but was certainly the coolest coin I ever received in change.
Quarter was from the supermarket. The dime may have been from a local convenience store or Coffee place. I'm pretty certain that the quarter was a 1964. The dime was from the early 50's. I seem to remember 52-D but I'm not certain. It's been awhile
Well it is not a business transaction but when I went to my local bank, the teller said that she had something for me. so I went over to see what it was. and there sat 26 silver certificates, I was thrilled, my dad had drove there so I split them with him. The teller said that the elderly lady that had these needed money and had these in here basement so she cashed them in. I hope to find more like that find one day, that is for sure. I also know that paddyman98 would like this.
You are my new hero, sir. That seems less likely then winning the mega millions or Powerball or whatever its called. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to meet the individual who bought a 89cent taco with a FRIGGIN PEACE DOLLAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! SMH
At one of those new, automatic change dispensers in the store, I once got a 1939 Mercury dime. Also, a couple years ago, I got a 1934A 20 dollar bill from the bank! Crisp uncirculated condition too.
