Who would want to own a bent gold coin? Or better question, would you pay more than spot for a bent gold coin? What could you do to bend it back to normal? Must be an old jewelry piece cause the surface looks fastidiously messed up. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1849-U-S-L...h=item442ad10d41:g:-qsAAOSwKA5bx5Pi:rk:2:pf:0
You can't bend it back, and any attempt will make it worse than it already is. Even with the bend, and the cleaning (assuming it is gold) this still may be worth more than just the gold value, as $1 gold coins are desirable.
If you put it between two pieces of ¼ inch Plexiglas and squeeze it in a vice it will flatten out, but that will not fix it.
That's what happens when you use that deep throated stapler . Daniel Carr could probably straighten that out for you and yes I've been known to buy bent gold for a tic over spot.
A tic over spot is one thing but the bidders in the link I showed have already placed bids $30 over spot today and the sale hasn't even ended yet. Also, the 1849's surfaces are shot, it's gonna be interesting to see where the sale ends.
Well they ONLY made less then 700,000...so and I dont see an L....so Open Wreath - No L But yes it looks to be a beat up ex jewelry piece. 10% back of spot.
I wonder what I missed. The bent coin sold for $182.50, that's amazing!! Ebay, quite a system. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1849-U-S-L...vip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137
Well, if it wasn't damaged it's worth over $200. Gold coin melt value is only $60. But people like the $1 gold coins.
