My first numismatics love is the coinage of the Plantagenets. I am always on the lookout for enjoyable coins of theirs. This coin below is one of those. It is a series D groat of Edward III and while not important or rare, I find it to be a really attractive coin.

Obv: EDWARD DG REX ANGL Z FRANC D HYB; crowned bust of king facing, annulet stops.
Rev POSVI/DEVM A/DIVTOR/EM MEV; LON/DON/CIVI/TAS. Long cross pattee with pellets in quarters. mm Cross 1.

Let's see those groats, gros tournois, groschen or any other medieval coins you like.

Wow, what a portrait on that coin @TheRed . I would have been attracted to it as well.

Here is a groat of Edward IV and a Gros Tournois of Louis IX.

Edward III Groats are among the most impressive of medieval coins and like @TheRed the Plantagenet Family are among my favorites.

This Groat was minted in London between 1354-1355. It belonged to Lord Stewartby who, in addition to writing references on British coinage, served as a Minister in the Thatcher Government. I purchased it from Arthur Bryant in 2018. It is Spink-1567 and has been graded AU-50 (the finest graded) by PCGS. It is among my favorite coins.

Those are really nice grosso @FitzNigel and @Milesofwho I would love to add one to my collection. Enrico Dandolo it's the first doge that comes to mind, but I'm sure thirds coins are at a premium due to his historical significance.

Very nice coins @Mat and @Orfew both groats are pieces I wouldgladly add to my collection. I also really need to get a gros tournois.

That is one class-E groat @Aethelred why hasn't it been given a post all its own? I'll gladly take it off your hands if you ever replace it with a nicer coin ;)

I would recommend the Spink catalogue for the Frank Brady Collection of English Hammered Groats. It was aprox $15 on ebay a few years ago and it contains some beautiful groats. Not really a reference, more eye candy, but fun to look at.

I was initially looking for an Enrico Dandolo, but the only one I saw had a starting bid around $300,000 (if I remember correctly). However, I just managed to snatch up a piccolo from him for about $20! It is currently in the mail...

That is a beautiful groat of Henry VI @Multatuli the bust is fantastic. The hair is outstanding, so often it is worn to one mass.

Here is a newly acquired Edward III Groat. It turned out to be better in hand than it was in the seller's photos so I was quite pleased.
