Another friend just came back from Niger and brought me a hand full of coins from there. It must be a super abrasive environment, many of the coins are so worn as be unrecognizable. Note that the 200 franc does not even have a date to be seen. 1993 NE 250 FCFA obv.JPG 1993 NE 250 FCFA rev.JPG 2003-2010 200 FCFA rev.JPG 2003-2010 NE 200 FCFA obv.JPG

Those look "worn out" indeed. Hope your friend also brought you a few that are better preserved. ;) That thing in the pill (last image) is a stylized sawfish from an old gold weight, see the image at the bottom here. It appears on most or all West African (BCEAO) coins and notes.

There were these two which were not sand blasted to death. I could not complain as they were free and the donor apparently has little or no knowledge of numismatics. 2011 NE 50 FCFA obv.JPG 2011 NE 50 FCFA rev.JPG 2017 NE 100 FCFA obv.JPG 2017 NE 100 FCFA rev.JPG

I lived in Senegal for 5 years 2006 to 2011, the circulating coins there were the same, and most were worn out like that too. Next January, I will be going back for a few years again.

    Some new acquisitions of note:

    Austria/Hungary/Transylvania
    1854E AU Ducat

    KM-2263 (1852-1859)
    NGC MS61

This is an Austrian type, struck in Hungary during the occupation period (1849-1867) at the Transylvania branch mint; hence the complex attribution of the country. This is the first ducat type issued under a young Franz Joseph during the fifth year of his reign.

    Highly reflective surfaces.

    Hungary
    1908KB AR 5 Korona

    KM-488 (1900-1909)*
    NGC MS65

A real condition rarity for this taler-sized coin (rare above MS62).

*Note this is of the new type I discovered earlier this year, so it is not truly KM-488 as defined by Krause, as the issues of 1900-1906 and 1907-1909 are really different types. This coin will serve as a companion illustrating the split 5 korona types along with my 1900KB NGC MS65.

    1908_5k.jpg

    Hungary
    1913KB AR Korona

    KM-492 (1912-1916)

The very rare key date for this type (mintage of 5,214), with extremely attractive toning.

    Hungary
    1936BP AR 2 Pengő

    KM-511 (1929-1939)
    NGC MS65

A pleasing gem example, with a typical slightly weak obverse.

    2P_1936.jpg

    Hungary
    1939BP AR 5 Pengő

    KM-517 (1939)
    NGC MS65

A nice condition rarity for this taler-sized type.

Put in a low bid on this. A lot lower then I see similar ones go for and I got it surprisingly. Sellers photos.

Yes I have as well. Not lately though, this is the first coin I've won in probably 6 months.

This one looked promising in seller's picture. Fairly nice detail, dark toning. In hand it is a bright, shiny artificial red. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I think member Miles gave you about as much info as I can.

The character in the middle 直 is Chihli province (Zhili on Numista). It think it is Y-10c, 1906. Per KM, it was actually struck at Chin Mint (Peiyang Arsenal), Tientsin. I don't see any variety in KM or Numista for this specific province. I rarely have the patience to determine the varieties on many Chinese cash unless there are big variances in value.

I've gotten one of those recently as well! Mine is well worn, but has several die cracks:
