That would have been hilariously awesome!! :D On second thought, we did sorta get that matchup. My understanding is that the Kroisos types were likely issued into the Persian period... though I doubt any could be as late as Xerxes.

What a fantastic daric! Sadly I doubt I'll ever manage to land one.

I really love these gold Darics! One of these days I'll manage to get my hands on the Carradice reference ;)

    Still Time to Vote!
We still have a close match here ladies and gentlemen! If you wish to vote the time is now!

I didn't manage to get this one out till late so you all still have a little over 6 hours to vote... there is still loads of time for fun in this great match up :D

Looks like I'm going to specialize "in" canadians....

Congrats @Severus Alexander for a great entry (as usual) and thank you @iamtiberius for hitting him a bit, I can now dream he will be slightly weakened in the next round :D

Congrats, Sev! And kudos to iamtiberius for the great plays he made throughout the tournament! That Daric is awesome and it's a pity it didn't get to see battle.

Phew!! :hurting: As you can see, @Cucumbor, I am indeed pretty beat up! With voting that close this was essentially a coin toss. (Please not with my coin though, I’d lose it in the carpet!)

Congrats to iamt for an amazing coin at an amazing price! And if you’re willing to reveal where you got it, send me a pm. I’d be ecstatic to score a similar example at a similar price.

And while you’re at it, I’m sure I speak for everyone in hoping you’ll post the coins you were contemplating for the medal rounds. It just isn’t right for us to be deprived of all that iamt deliciousness!! :hungry:

  9. It was a hard fought battle. I'm pretty sure there is nothing in my collection that could beat your hemiobol in budget; maybe a few in history. Very well fought. Sadly, now I must bow to your budgetarian hijinks. Another American bites the dust.

The much hyped Batman vs Darth Vader match was certainly not a let down. Both of these players have been responsible for some of the most entertaining write ups and amazing coins of the whole tournament. It's a shame we won't be seeing both in the medal rounds! Regardless, thank you to both participants.

IAT took eye appeal while SA took the budget. SA took the edge in a contested interest category to come out on top!

@Severus Alexander will advance to meet @Cucumbor in the semifinals.

It seems that our semifinal round will include participants from four different countries once again this year! Looking forward to it.

I feel I am morally obligated to remind you that a light sabre can easily penetrate a blast door...

(Um, are you ready in the sense that you've already done your writeup!? I am certainly not ready! :shy:)
