Clip, not chip, and please don't grip it with metal instruments...

 

This might be a clip. The first thing to do would be to lay another cent down and see if it fits into the "clip" area. There is a phenomenon called the Blakesley Effect which causes the rim and sometimes the legends that are straight across from the clip to be badly formed. I don't see this on your coin, but that is no proof it is not a real clip. Clips are not that uncommon and aren't worth a ton of money.

 

Maybe a good full photo of the reverse might help show some of the Blakesley

 

Cut a slot in a piece of cardboard, insert coin to make it stand on edge.
This will not scratch coin. You may have a straight clip coin.

I don't see any Blakesley Effect.
BUT
If it's a clip it could be small enough that it didn't happen.

Whatever, you need some MUCH better pictures (focus and closeups) to tell with any certainty.

The "L" in Liberty looks to be missing.

 

I cringed when I got to the second and third picture. Don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever grip any coin like that. EVER!
