With silver down at this level what would be a good price to pick up xf-au peace dollars. Looking to buy 100 at a time. Thanks for feedback.

    100 at a time, huh?

Well, a good price would be melt, currently around $12.50 each, so 100 would be $1,250.

Realistically, you're looking at no less than $18 - $20 each (IMHO), so $1,800 - $2,000...if you can find them.

At $18 to $20 each, math says you’d be better off buying silver eagles.

I’ll take $1800 worth of Peace over $1800 in ASEs all day long.

It depends on your reason for buying, and/or your belief in the strength of the numismatic value of coins.

I believe you'll find these 2 items to generally be differing. One being a Medal of base metal, selling at a normally unrecoverable premium, and the other being a Numismatic coin of the realm, also selling based on metal value, and numerous other factors, Including date, mintage, condition, strike-type, slab, etc.. The additional factors generally dictate a greater premium, and potential for premium recovery.

It's generally ludicrous to discuss the Numismatic "coins" in terms of intrinsic value, rather than desirability/rarity. Mutilated "culls" can be sold at an ~40%+ premium.

    Maybe a bit off-topic...

I'd love to see the Peace dollar design replace the current ASE design.

Maybe in 2021 -- to commemorate the Peace dollar's 100th anniversary?

But that would cut in to any other money grabbing scheme the Mint is cooking up for the anniversary, lol.

    XF to AU ?
on Apmex.com you can get random VG to XF for $18.49 each, 100 bag for $1,849 (big discount over 1 right ?)

AU for $20.49 each, 100 for $1,989 (some discount)
BU for $23.99 each, 100 for $2,339 ( some discount)

Provident just has 100 Culls for $1,794.

But as a reference, 100 qty 2018s BU ASEs are $1,870.00

    depends if one favors "melt"
or "numismatic" aspect of these coins; or some various weighted combination of the two.

Also depends upon how long they intend to hold the coins, or if this is just a spot flip transaction (wait for spot to go up, then sell) and who they sell too (individual coins vs bulk). So many various scenarios that can play out.

Something else to consider. 7/9 pricing of Peace dollars is $16.81. Buyback price is $12.54. Generic silver is 16.87. Buyback price is 16.18.

You also have to ask yourself that when you're ready to sell, who will buy hundreds of Peace Dollars on the opposite end? VG or XF non key date years are not that desirable.

Many of the ASEs are sold in tubes or even monster boxes which would make them easier for you to unload on the selling end.
