Paddyman, Kurt S., do you remember me? 1992 D Close AM Cent?

Discussion in 'Coin Roll Hunting' started by James De Cheser, May 9, 2018.

  1. On March 30 of 2015, I posted a picture of the 1992 D Close AM which I had discovered while coin roll hunting. It was verified by a learned member named Kurt S., viewed by paddyman, and subsequently stolen by a "friend". My screen name at the time was Error66, and I even had my gallery posted which included a 1944 steel which I now learn is valuable. Now my screen name and everything else related to my membership to this website are gone and I recall no password. I'm about 8 email addresses away from whichever I was using at that time, and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think that mine may have been the cent sold at The 2017 Summer FUN Auction, although it's distinguishing marks (a scratch from the first dot in "E Pluribus Unum" leading to nearly the center of the top of the memorial on the reverse as well as a copper patina filled "D" on the obverse) are conspicuously not visible on Heritage's photos of the cent. Will someone tell me how to proceed, please? I have written to Heritage and PCGS, but have not received a reply. Thank You for Your Aid, James De Cheser.

I just read the whole thread from 2015. So you found the 92 d only to have it stolen by a friend? Sorry for the bad luck. I am in the process of finding wams and cams, like the cent
I just read the whole thread from 2015. So you found the coin after losing it only to have a friend steal it from you? Wow, sorry for the bad luck. And I hope that your feeling much better these days. I'm in the process of finding wams and cams, like the coin you found, but alas I feel my search is in vain. Hope you find your coin good sir.

  8. Hello Paddyman. My coin was a "D". The photographs shown here are not the originals. I remember you as well. Is there any way for the Cointalk webmaster to locate the original posting on March 30 2015? Thanks for your continued support, friend. God Bless You, Jim (originally Error66).

  10. Thank-you very, very much. I am on The East Coast for two further brain surgeries, but am hanging in there. I don't know how he did it, but he changed the photograph of my 92 D to a '92 P. I am vey disheartened, but I pray that this forum will help me put the thief away. I was so happy to re-discover it after popping it back into the pile of "already viewed cents, and then again after having forgotten where I had hidden it, but when I found it I called my then "friend" and he came to see it from his condo ten flights up. He had given me the case in which I had originally hidden it. He turned for a moment, then turned back and said "Jim...his isn't even the same year". I could not have made that mistake...not in one hundred years. He then asked if I wanted to check him. Wish that I had said yes.
Thanks, Richard. Can you tell me where you found the original thread which has had the photographs changed by my former "friend"?

  11. And I think I have a 2000 CAM somewhere. Help me find my coin and it is yours.

What do you mean when you ask "Will someone tell me how to proceed, please?" Do you think Heritage sold your coin?

  13. I can not be certain without having my original photographs with which to compare those of the "Heritage" photographs of the coin, Oldhoopster. I am attempting to gain access to my original ERROR66 gallery to see my other coins which I had discovered at the time without success.

    I'm sorry, but what??

Perhaps it's just one of those days here, but your "friend" not only stole your coin, but somehow changed the photos, changed the coin's appearance, and also magically changed its mintmark as well? Am I understanding you correctly?

If so, and with all due respect, the answer here should go without saying...

Perhaps it would be helpful for you to share the link to the coin you're under the impression is somehow yours. Could it be either of the below?

  16. Hello Paddyman!!!!! Yes, you WERE on the thread - as well as a nice guy named KurtS.. I remember your screen names as well as a couple of others from that time like "furry frog". I know that YOU saw the '92D Close AM that I had found. The photos to which I now have access are not the same ones...unless I posted another coin and do not remember which is a distinct possibility. Thanks for remembering, friend.
    Jim.

  17. He stole the coin, took photos of another, and, with my password from the time, replaced my true '92 Close AM photos with the existing one. Otherwise, it is very likely that I posted another photo requesting information on whether it was a '92 P or not. This, I must concede, is a distinct possibility. With a poor memory due to several brain surgeries, I can not be certain. I know the difference between a '92 D and a '92 P, after all. I do not blame you for your skepticism, but we are talking about a former "friend" with military computer techniques which go beyond my emailing by light years.
Thank You for Being Upfront. It is a respectable quality, to be certain.
    Jim.

  18. Unfortunately not. These are not Denver mints, as was mine. I can not...without knowing and having access to my 2015 email address, gain access to my old account AND photographs to prove or disprove the facts.

  19. And the "D" displayed in the second link has not the scratch on the reverse nor the patina filling the "D" on the obverse. Thanks.

  20. The pictures I saw were from a very excited Heritage webpage posted on a screen in the "APPLE" store when I was there receiving a data migration. I could not believe my eyes. I thought that, if the scratch and the patina inside of the "D" were visible, it would be my coin certainly...and I would at last be able to prove it.
