Let's show what you have. That's mine: A pre 1967 Rothschild bar, made in London, in really good shape.
I read somewhere not long ago (wish I could remember the source) that all the gold that has been mined on earth could fit an Olympic size swimming pool. I am guessing you own that pool?
When you think of all the gold the ancient Egyptians had, then the Incas, then all that is at the bottom of the oceans, plus the lost buried treasure and the amount in various vaults across the world and all the gold coins and personal jewellry ,I think that swimming pool talk is just a myth.
Math is your friend. A quick google search found that the World Gold Council (a marketing development arm of the gold industry) estimates that there have been over 190,040 tonnes of gold mined in human history. They go on to say that this would form a cube 21.4 meters per side. That equals 9800 cubic meters of gold. Wikipedia lists the volume of an Olympic swimming pool at 2500 cubic meters. Therefore, assuming these values are accurate, all the gold ever mined would fill approx. 3.9 Olympic pools.
I been a commercial construction estimator for 35 plus years and I can't play Scrabble with the kids without a calculator anymore. Math makes my head hurt now. Math is no longer my friend........ But now that you did this awesome research, I do believe you are correct. I misspoke earlier. That article I read did say three Olympic swimming pools.... I enjoyed my mind back when I had it....
