Coins have value through, the metal content, demand, popularity, age, and errors or varieties. HOW DO I START? Many new collectors may start by searching their pocket change and their cans of coins. One very popular collection is a 50 State quarters set! Find what you like. If you like it, there is no right or wrong way to collect. WHAT DO I NEED TO START? Collecting can be as cheap as your pocket change and as expensive as you can imagine. You may want to pick up a copy of the US Guide Book of coins at your book store or local coin shop. You may want to get folders to place your coins in its appropriate slot. I WANT TO COLLECT NON MODERN COINS, WHERE DO I START? You can go earlier in American coins such as Indian cents, even join the dark side, collect ancient coins. Ancient coins has a vast collecting range. From ancient Greek to Mesopotamia. Or you can go into the bullion side. WARNING-bullion involves financial risk as any other investment. The possibilities are endless. WHAT ONLINE RESOURCES DO I HAVE? You can use the website you are on right now. There are many long term, highly educated collectors that can give you advice on your collection. You can use the vast PCGS info database. The info is endless, just make sure to verify it is a reputable source. IS THERE REALLY SUCH AS THING AS A COIN SHOW? Yep! Third Party Graders an unbiased authentication service, who primarily grade coins and verify the coins legitimacy. Not all coins need to be graded. Coin roll hunting is searching rolls, boxes, bank bags, and any other change you have for errors and varieties and other coins, HOW DO I CRH? Learn what to look for. Why? Not being argumentative, as I don't personally like them. Just curious if theres a reason outside of personal preference.

My idea regarding whitman folders is for beginners or just absoulute non collectors. Alot of non collectors probably have a 50 state quarters set in a folder. Now I do agree that more valuable coins should not be left in folders but for pocket change filling books. I think folders would be fine
