That is a very good sign that GRC is the new key. I was wondering if mintages would just start getting incrementally smaller now but that does not seem to be the case. Perhaps your theory that there was some sort of minting/production issue may actually be true. TC
I've been watching coinupdate.com but seeing a big nothing burger from them. It will eventually come out.
The Ellis Island has now sold out at a mintage of 17,694. It is selling on the bay for about $190. I'm seeing that some sellers are trying to sell the Georgie for $275. I'm putting the value at $200 until I see some "sold listings" suggesting otherwise. The Pictured Rocks are selling quite well with 15,249 in less than a month. It is a nice design.
I thought that I'd take a picture of the five rarest pucks. In order of rarity: GRC, Volcanoes, Acadia, Denali, and Chaco Culture.
I decided to take photos of all my pucks today and noticed a nick on the Hawaii puck (had to be the most expensive one) between the two I's in Hawaii. What are your thoughts on the devaluation? As a note, it came from the mint like this and unfortunately I didn't notice it until today.
Bummer about the nick. Have no idea on the devaluation. What is that spot bottom right of the S? Milk spot or on the capsule?
It is a lighting reflection and not actually on the coin or the plastic holder. You won't see that milk spot on the 5 coin picture above it.
The Ellis Island puck has officially sold out. It was release for sale in September 2017, took 6 months to sellout, and has a mintage of 17,694. It is currently the 15th of 41 pucks in rarity (4 of the 15 remain on sale at the mint). I'm currently valuing the puck at $162, but it is increasing in value since the sellout. Ellis Island is located in the upper New York bay and was the gateway to 12 million immigrants to the United States between 1892 and 1954. It was the busiest port of entry for immigrants that have subsequently made our country stronger, richer, and more diverse. I've never been to the island but I've seen it from the Hoboken shoreline. Ellis Island is located in New Jersey. It is truly an American landmark!
