Does it hit 5,000 or 10,000?
Right now the odds are on 5,000.

I think you can short bitcoin in one of the markets that trade the futures.
Although when the price is going down they don't take short orders.
    It's up now.

Thanks for the info., Michael, but my gambling consists of an occasional lottery ticket. I was trying for sarcasm, and failed.

True, buying BTC feels like going up to the Roulette Wheel.

I figure if I cannot understand it then I don't need to own it. Very few really understand Bitcoin and Block Chain and, therefore, probably should not own it. Those who do understand what is happening got out a long time ago and it is the uninformed who will get bitten. It is a bit like the old tulip bulbs, eventually someone will ask: "Just what is this and what were we thinking?" The governments don't understand it, and they will therefore regulate it to protect their own currencies.

Time to sit on the sidelines on cryptocurrencies and let the dust settle. The tulip bulbs may be cheaper or free in a few months! When the downside risk is greater than the upside potential the average investor does not need to play. Going to Vegas is a better bet, but then some have a psychological predisposition to gamble no matter the forum.

I think another question to ask may be does it hit $10,000 or does it hit $0? The smart money is long gone with their profits.

I like your style on grading, mine might be about the same. I take great comfort that most billionaires did not finish college. So my turn is coming if I just live long enough.

With regard to Bitcoin and the like, I agree. As for Blockchain, that is the method or technology behind it, and nothing you or I could own. Can be used for payments, but also for all kinds of other contracts. And yes, we will use it at some point. ;)

I agree but, I have a high tech and banking background and no matter what is said so little is known about the technology and the true security that I think there is some shaking out to come. But here also the existing payment system is owned and controlled, and I think it is unlikely that the government and major banks will allow an unregulated payment system forever. Once the major banks get involved with block chain it will fall under the supervision of the FDIC/FED/Comptroller of the Currency/States. Dodd/Frank already has 20,000 pages of regulation, so a few more is a nit.

There is too much room for abuse, fraud, and tax circumvention to let it be truly open forever. The regulators are probably schooling themselves up for a regulatory push, and it will come with the first major loss by an bank or influential person, or the first proven fraud case.

I do remember seeing one of the Bit Coin advocates say it was going to 100,000.
The 320K I did not hear and I will read that article/ link later, thank you.
Stock markets are up, but there is a nervousness.

Actually I think it's been rallying since the US had their meeting earlier this week on cryptocurrency and it appeared positive regarding them not restricting it.

What presidential dollars? There are none that are not clad, so maybe you just converted worth something to worth only face value.

Pretty sure that was the punch line. ;)

Personally, I'm pretty happy these days about all the silver I converted to cash "worth only face value" back when it was over $35/oz. Wish I'd converted a lot more.

And as for bitcoin, that "worth something" assertion seems a bit [sorry] questionable...
