    Good Day All,

I thought this would be an interesting post from me.

Over the last 2 to 3 months I have been visiting my local thrift stores in the area looking for silver.

So 2 weeks ago I passed by these attached gold plated spoons hanging on the wall along with the other cutlery they get in. Of course most times its stainless or silver plated but I just passed these on by for I thought they were just gold plated stainless junk. Well I decided today to actually take a closer look at them and long and behold they are marked Italy .800 purity. So I bought the 2 lots of them (6 spoons in each) for $ 15.00 total for both.

I get back to work and weigh them on the postage machine scale we have and they are 7.6 ounces each lot. I am not sure if that is accurate for Troy ounces but I wanted an idea how heavy each lot is. I will test one of these spoons tonight with my silver tester to verify they are silver indeed. Either way I think I have around $ 200.00 in melt value with these.

And here is what takes the cake. The matching set of knives and forks are still there in their lots hanging up. I am going back tonight to grab the rest with more cash on me this time. I really hope they test positive for 80% silver.

Just out of curiosity, try to see if they are magnetic.

Ok update. They were plated. JSP testing confirms this. And they were non metallic. So much for a great find.
