Even though i have several other bars of silver mostly 10 oz and higher, i did recently Get started on collecting Johnson Matthey 10 oz bars exclusively, both the JM bars and The Englehardt bars are very collectable and do demand a significant premium over Spot, here,s what i have so far. first example moving left to right: Johnson Matthey 10 OZ ( Toronto Dominion Bank) Population: <250 Johnson Matthey 10 OZ ( JM Branded) Population: <750,000 Johnson Matthey 10 OZ ( Escalante Mine (1982) Population: <1,000 Johnson Matthey 10 OZ ( New York Republic Bank) Population <3,000 There are 38 Varieties in the 10 OZ category most are obtainable though a few have really low populations of <25 or <50 so not going to be the easiest Would like to have this collection completed by the end of nest year, will post results On this thread.
Ship wreck silver is super cool, I have been wanting to get some for a long time now maybe in the near future, just buying the JM stuff for now and that's enough...LOL
I've got quite a few 10oz bars safely stashed away but it never occurred to me to think that their may be varieties. A JM silver bar is just that to me. I probably don't have anything special though as I did not pay anything but the normal prevmium for them.
Just added this one today Johnson Matthey 10 Oz Poured silver bar, rarer then the stamped versions and cost allot more but found this one for a very reasonable price Also allot smaller and allot more chunky as well in comparison.
Wow very nice. I'd be willing to bet you didn't just start with a collection like that. I have a few pieces and some of the 1964 Morgan dollars.
Here,s another, i just got in the mail today as part of my JM 10 OZ bar collection Good ones dont come up everyday at a decent price, the JM, Manfra,Tordella and Brooks bar has a population of only 8,500 and is the 2nd Series in the run of these Gorgeous bars and this one actually provided a bonus, which you dont see very often the actual assay certificate for the bar !!
Just got this one in today, Scotia bank ( JM ) 10 OZ, Population 10K circa 1985 Have seen a couple on the bay but but not as nice and at a lower price
Thanks, just won another poured rare 10 OZ Bar on the bay, which should be here In a couple days, will be posting it soon
@mpcusa Next time it's handy, I'll post my Engelhard 10 oz, it's a very scarce type I happened upon a few years ago. I'll post a picture if you want to see it. (It's in deep storage right now)
Yes, i for sure want to see it as soon as i am done with my JM 10 OZ collection I will be moving to the Englehard side of things.
Here,s a new one i just got in today, outbid 30 others for this one on the bay Has low 2,000 population, produced circa 1980, plus a great patina to boot !
