I've been getting peppered with "deals" from all the online retailers the last few days. Things must be slow right now.

    DID YOU KNOW

IF YOU HAD $25000 IN APPLE IN 2001

    YOU WOULD HAVE

    ...oh, never mind.

(You'd have about $2.5 million. Plus probably six figures in dividends. But it still wouldn't be shiny and yellow.)

I think @Kentucky did this deal. Let's see what he has to say.

If you had $25k in Bitcoin in 2010, they'd be worth $890 million, but the IRS wouldn't let you keep it all :D

If I had an $890 million windfall, sharing with the IRS would be one of the least of my concerns.

There was a guy posting on another forum who claimed to be one of the Bitcoin "whales" (holders big enough to move the market substantially all by themselves). He posted some of his mining statistics from back near the beginning, and claimed to still have about 22,000 BTC, mostly mined himself. He said other than not worrying about retirement any more, it hasn't changed his life much, and he pointed out that you really can't cash it out very quickly or easily. There were many suggestions that he start donating small amounts to worthy causes, or worthy forum posters. ;)

Yep, except I bought them at $110 each. When you call to order, they try and switch you to a "much better" deal with graded US gold pieces. If you stick by your guns and keep saying all you want are the 1/10 oz gold coins, they will finally close the deal. They had a minimum order of 5 and a maximum order of 10, so I ordered 10 and as soon as I got them in, I took 9 of them to a coin shop and sold them for $129 each. So 10 @ $110 each plus $38 shipping is $1136 and 9 @ $129 each is $1161, so I got one free.

How were they packaged, in flips? How did they look? Random dates?

Think I might buy the 10, then trade them in at an LCS for a graded $5 Indian, or something(s).

Yep. Placed the order online Saturday and got the callback today. Tried to get me to buy an MS62 $5 Liberty Head for the "reduced price" of like $1099. I happened to have the ipad at the ready and pulled up PCGS's price guide while I was listening to him try to upsell me. The conversation ended quickly once I told him that I was on their site and was seeing later year MS62's (which you know they would have sent) for $435.

Hey, I understand that they're in the business to make money, but not going to let it be from me. I'll just take my almost instant $150+ profit and be on my way, thank you very much
