Any legit sites to buy coins off? Preferable graded coins or any seller here?

If you click on the word "Directory" in the dark blue bar under the forum name above , you will see dealers that have registered as well as our member dealers.

Try estate auctions. You can usually tell large letters from small. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

eBay, David Lawrence, heritage, stacks bowers ect. A lot of dealers have a website. A lot depends on the type of coins you’re looking for

If new, find a dealer willing to personally work with you, even if it ends up costing more than the average completed eBay or Heritage sale. In the long run you'll be glad you did.

Many larger dealers are not going to want to do such a thing, but some smaller may. The key is to talk to them to get a feel for their person. Any who tell you everything you want to hear should be avoided.

No! I mean the auctions that the auctioneers have no idea about what they are selling. I've gotten a few good deals on things that were not in the brochure.

How do I know I won’t get scammed on eBay?

You don't. I try not to spend high dollar on eBay. Anything worth real mony- you will be beat out by the other guys in coin talk.

The key is to genuinely know and understand what you're buying, which is certainly easier said than done. Still, eBay generally sides with the buyer even in cases when they're in the wrong, which should give some added confidence.

Knowledge really is key to this hobby and is a big reason for my earlier post. Just try to take it slow and learn as you go. Ask questions and at least try to find a truly experienced eye to help you along.

There’s a far greater chance of a seller getting scammed than a buyer when it comes to eBay. Avoid Asian sellers, stick to graded coins, and if it looks to good to be true it almost certainly is. That eliminates the vast majority of scams on eBay

eBay is NOT a bad place to shop, if you shop from reputable sellers on eBay. Many of these sellers have a physical coin shop. I was very happy with a rather expensive purchase on eBay recently. The seller is a known quantity in the U.S. coin business, and has been selling coins for 45 years, backs up every one of his sales with a return policy, and has dealt in some of the most high-end USA coins.

If you purchase world coins like I do, you may really have few other choices than (reputable) eBay sellers...

For someone located in a remote corner of the world (NZ) collecting US coins, I have few options other than eBay. Even there, choice is limited to those sellers willing to ship overseas at a reasonable price (a minority). My eBay buying formula is pretty straight forward: photos must be good, the seller must be well-established with a long transaction history and, when in doubt, I search the web for feedback.
With experience, I now have a number of favourite eBay dealers - I know whose coins will best match the pics, who package well and who post things promptly.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned USA Coinbook. I don't buy there because the sellers don't ship overseas but there are often coins I wish I could access.

MA Shops (dare I mention?) also looks pretty good to my eye. Given the fact that the sellers there do ship globally at reasonable prices means I'll definitely give them a go one of these days.
