What is your favorite 1 oz government issued silver and why?

Please rank from 1 to 5. We should add up the point total to see what is most popular. Lowest point total wins.

Forum, am I missing anything from my list of what meets these criteria? I believe there are only 5 different 1 oz government issued silver bullion coins.
    US: Eagle
    Canada: Maple
    Austria: Philharmonic
Australia: Kangaroo (Perth Mint is authorized by Australian government and is located in Australia)
    UK: Britannia

(I have excluded Pandas because they are less than 1 oz. I have also excluded Armenian, Somali, and other silver bullion that is issued by mints located outside of the country)

    My ranking
    1. Silver Maple
Great design, high security, modest premium
    2. Silver Britannia
Great design, lower premium, varying designs make it a little more collectible for me.
    3. American Silver Eagle
Classic beautiful design. A little too big for my liking. Can be boring to me seeing the same US designs I see every day in my spending money.
    4. Australian Kangaroo
Looks like a poker chip, too big, but the Kangaroo is pretty
    5. Austrian Philharmonic
    BORING and plain edges

    1. Brit - I like the changes
    2. Austria - Just plain awesome quality
    3. Maple - Nice look.
    4. ASE - Meh, not bad, but why no changes?
    5. Roo - Don't have any, don't want any.

    * I like Libertads better than all 5. - Appreciation.

I don't really have a preference except that I don't like Britannias. All I require is that they have not been damaged in the bathtub.

I have excluded them from the list due to their more numismatic nature rather than bullion nature.
Yes, they are 1 oz silver coins, but they carry by far the highest premium over spot of all of the others.
A 20+% premium over metal value makes a coin numismatic in my eyes. What do you think?

    Seems perfectly reasonable.

What do I think? I think I have bought them for less that +20%. About the same as for kangaroos.

The US really has 2. The Eagle bullion program, but also the gold buffalo. The premium is currently the same between buffalo and eagle in many outlets. I also disagree with the exclusion of the Libertad. I agree with the exclusion of the Panda due to high premium, less than 1 ounce, etc. However, Libertads can be had for relative similar premiums as some of the others on the list.

Given the current options, my list would be:

1st - Eagle - classic design; I highly appreciate the same design each year. I understand where some disagree with me here, but I prefer my "stack" uniform.

Maple Leaf - also a classic design with security features. However, I feel the radial lines are not as aesthetic as smooth fields.

Brittannia (close, almost tie with Maple Leaf) - The biggest detractor for me was the changing of the designs such as the fields each year. Some look nice, some I do not care for. It makes the stack less uniform. Earlier years with the drastic design changes did make them more collectable.

Philharmonic - just not enough going on for me to really enjoy. I like the aesthetics of the reflective coin, particularly with smooth edges. Ultimately I feel the coin appears "flat" to me.

5th - Kangaroo - Really just my least favorite. It kind of falls in the same category as the Somali coins, for example. Can be attractive coins, but too much of a novelty to me to really want to "stack".

The Libertad for me would fall somewhere in the middle of the pack.

I realize most of the comments above are geared towards "investment" coins. And that's OK. I collect for a different reason. I enjoy the beauty of 1 oz Silver coins. Both bullion and collector coins. My goal for several years was to collect a 1 ounce Silver coin from as many countries as possible. Seeing this tread prompt me to make a list of what I currently have. This list does not include the many, many other Circulating and non circulating Silver coins I own, and some might be in the collector category rather than the bullion category but it doesn't really matter, does it?

    In alphabetical order:

    Armenia: Noah's Ark

Australia: Koalas, Kangaroos,Kookaburras, Crocodile, Phoenix and Dragon, Funnel Web Spider,Lunar Tiger,Lunar Monkey

    Austria: Philharmonic, Maria Theresa

    Barbados: Trident

    Burundi: African Lion

    Canada: Maple Leafs,(various),Eagle,Falcon,Owl,Hawk,Wolf,Cougar,Bison,Grizly,
    Antelope,Moose

    Chad: Lion

    China: Pandas

    Congo: Lion

    Cook Island: Ship

    France: Rooster,Ultime Franc,Europa, Franco Japan

Great Britain: 50 Pounds Brittania, Multiple Britannias including Proofs and varieties, Queens Beast, British Round

    Isle of Man: Angel

Mexico: Libertads, all sizes 1/20th oz. to 5 oz., including proofs. Multiple Onzas, multiple 1 ounce collector coins

    Netherlands: Lion restrike

    New Zealand: Kiwi

    Niue: Turtle, Owl

    Russia: St. George and Dragon

    Solomon Islands: Year of Pig

    Somalia: Elephants

    South Africa: Buffalo, Krugerrand

South Korea 5,000 and 10,000 Won

    Ukraine: St. Michael

    United States: ASE, Buffalo Round

    Virgin Islands: Pegasus

    Zambia: Lions

    Favorites
A: Brittanias for quality, beauty, different designs(older series), and in case of the proofs, investment
B: Koalas for quality and different designs
    C: Libertads, quality and design
D: Pandas, value and low mintage
E: Elephants, like the yearly design changes
Last: Canada. While I really like some of their designs, I am turned off by the quality. Too many coins ruined by milk spots.

    1) ASE-All time Classic. Obverse and Reverse are beautiful. Can never get enough of these.
    2) Maples-Love the new ones with radial lines.
    3) Britannias-Love the radial lines on these too.
    4) Phils-Love the design. Would be higher on my list if the edge was reeded.
    5) Libertads-If the premiums were lower I would put this number 2

Thanks for confirming that modern German coins (Federal Republic) are not Teutonic then. :)

With a huge percentage premium that makes it cease to be bullion, yes, it is.

Shhh. Don't keep telling me this stuff is bullion; I'll have to stop buying it. Whether it's bullion or not, TO MY DEFINITION, is utterly uninvolved with its premium, but how it is selected, handled, treated or stored. Bullion goes "CLANG!" and numismatic coins (mine, anyway) are never allowed to.

By my definition, I buy no bullion. Every silver piece I still have is 100% numismatic. But some of it I bought for under melt. Much of it WAAAAAAY under current melt.

In the *end*, it's all stardust yet again. It was all cooked up in fusion reactions and such will be its ultimate fate for several more cycles, then, ... entropy is maximized.

Ultimately, ALL of ANYTHING'S significance is all made up in our heads.
