Exactly. Who is dumb enough to buy a random 1 oz gold bar without assay or guaranteed security features because they can save $20. It's very foolish. And what was the other one? Air Force reserve or something random 1 oz silver round? Well that will be the perfect gift for 1 out of every thousand people who viewed the website yesterday.
However, all week Mexican 2.5 Pesos are on sale for $5 over spot. It's only a couple grams of gold, but it's tempting to buy. (That's about $80 over for an ounce). However, their buy back price of gold 2.5 pesos shows a considerable loss under spot. 2.5 Peso AGW .0603 oz Gold $1292 Sell price $82.9 (actual gold value $77.9. Percent over spot: 6.1%) Buy back Price $73.77 (actual gold value $77.9 Percent under spot: 5.3%) It's an interesting item, but you're taking an 11.4% gamble. Gold would have to increase 11.4% just to make your money back reselling it, or increase to $1439. I'm tempted to pick one up, but my math convinces me to pass.
Those can be good to stack over time. I liken it to when I go to the LCS and just buy a role of 90% dimes instead of a big purchase. It will add up.
WOW! Krugerrands at spot! https://www.providentmetals.com/1-oz-south-africa-gold-krugerrand-random-year.html
It went out of stock as I was ordering. Pretty crappy, but I suppose it would have been milk spotted anyway. It was sold as uncirculated rather than BU, as is typically the case. I guess I am not too upset.
I'm just looking to put together a nice, fun $100-$200 order and I am not seeing anything I like. Here's hoping for some Britannias at spot and maybe a 1/10 gold piece.
Me too. After yesterday with both items selling out so fast you gotta stay on top of it. I would love some fractional gold or Junk 90% at melt.
