And in Reading, Pennsylvania, you can walk right up and PURCHASE an industrial-age city townhome in decent structural shape that may need some tender loving care for LESS THAN $30,000. Section 8 voucher holders are SWARMING out of NYC because their vouchers go so far in Reading.

von Mises, whether spelled correctly or incorrectly, was a moron, as are his fans, universally.

ALL, repeat - EVERY LAST ONE, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, of the books and websites that promote von Mises and/or Austrian School economics generally, are pushing A POLITICAL IDEOLOGY and not anything resembling economic theory that has any basis in fact. Austrianism is a long dead economic paradigm that has been appropriated by an extremist political ideology to give themselves the false veneer of respectability.

And YOU fell for it. I had thought you smarter.

When their whole point is "anarcho-capitalism", as it is, the von Mises crowd needs to take every bit as much responsibility for the first part of that as the last. They. Promote. Anarchy. Openly.

And if you get a couple of drinks in Steve Forbes, he'll admit that to you.

Confiscatory and meteorically rising levels of property taxes for the schools mostly. For a state this mired in recession, our public school teachers are hyper-generously compensated. Second highest public school salaries in the nation. And the only thing more generous than their salaries is their benefits package.

Yup, and the unbelievable clout of their unions. Even lawmakers who oppose them, fear them nonetheless.

There is nothing to "take respondibility for." "Their whole point is" *INDIVIDUAL* economic and personal freedom. Anarcho-Capitalism is a theoretical method which probably can't work at scale. You know, because scale would invite leeches to sneak in, then burrow in, and then wait for the whingy keynesians to show up and start their "well actually" crapola.

But not to worry. Technology and (forbidden to talk about culture clashes)may well make small scale enclave life feasible and the collapse of scale, and blobs, just another "oh well."

But I suppose the prospect of that is the exact thing you establishment people have your knickers in twist about.

So then your dream is to either literally or figuratively "sequester" yourselves in a closed off enclave? Might I suggest a little place just north of, ohh, Leavenworth, Kansas?

In all seriousness, though, if living apart from the bulk of society is your dream, I'm in favor that all Austrian School believers do everything in their power to make that happen as soon as feasible. Where can I send my check to help out?

Ooh, ooh, I hear Pripyat, Ukraine has a sort of rustic charm.

Still not enough to deal with all your kids on a daily basis. Not even close. Teachers are expected to be parents for half the kids in classes these days because so many homes are dumpster fires.

What makes you believe the rest of society won't be living in enclaves- your superhuman powers to halt collapsing returns to scale by technology?

But it's good that you want to say goodbye to us. Now you can send your cape to the cleaners and get a lot of rest. You're going to need it if you're going to thwart technology and save the world.

Not likely an Austrian believer. An Austrian would know radar has proven the world is round because objects near surface level, such as ships in the ocean, will not reflect radiation back at a certain distance because of the curvature of the Earth. Keynesians on the other hand would probably think that the radar is not complying with their demands and needs to be stimulated, or punished.

    Yes it is.

As for his alledged issues with the government, that's his business not mine. But you could always put on your cape and save him.

Look, I get your rap, nines, really I do. I listen to the same terrestrial radio syndicated stuff you do. Difference is - without my stout blood pressure meds, I'd be screaming at those well-modulated baritone voice talkers for being the liars they are. But as it is, I get mostly grins and guffaws from them.

That said, last night I wanted to jump through the car radio and get at the guy-with-the-Scandinavian-sounding-name's throat. He was broadcasting utter lies and untruths about the FCC's impending "'net neutrality" plans.
