oye... gas does not freeze! even if you have a quarter tank, it wont freeze!!! (until roughly -250ºF) not trying to yell at you, but in general, I hear too many people that think this. edit: on topic, my uncle thinks that possibly by late 2008 silver might hit 17+ and gold 850+
As a long time drag racer, car collector and car nut here is what happens; Gas lines freeze due to condensation. water. If you only keep a quarter tank the insides of the tank collect water vapors which condense to form ice. If you keep the tank full then gas contacts the sides of the tank preventing water and ice from forming. To keep this coin related put a penny on the battery posts.
Thank you Victor that was my whole point about keeping the tank full. Plus it can help traction in snow and if that's not enough (to keep it a coin related thread) store all of your loose change in the trunk! LOL
You must have rear wheel drive. I have front wheel drive. To keep this coin related I'll superglue cull Morgans on my front bumper.
ah... I didnt know you knew that. There have been plenty of people I met that actually think the gas will freeze. also, gas only weighs about 6 pounds per gallon... so... a full tank wont give you that much extra weight, you're better off with bags of cents in the trunk!
To Victor and Magman, Guys I have so MUCH crap in my van (which is front wheel drive) due to work supplies that the extra weight is nothing to me. It's overloaded already! LOL. Just tossed that part in as a little extra weight doesn't hurt in most cases.
news news news gold is going to reach $2,000.00 within the few few years. some analysts predicted. if we buy some gold. actually we have some money for it. and we don't have to sell them. the future is bright.
Elaine: Be careful! Gold has NEVER been above $820/oz, and the predictions of $2000/oz sound too much like the stock market of 1929. No one ever sees the crash before it happens!!! I am personally am waiting for the bottom to drop out at $800. $2000??? Not likely in my lifetime.
latest price of gold at northewst territories based on $807.00 an ounce. selling price for one ounce is $844.00. way above $831.95 from the u.s. mint. beside that, mint got w mint mark. while nw terr have bullion unc without w mint mark. see what's the difference.
I drag raced a Front Wheel Drive 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo for years. 16 pounds of boost. No intercooler. Homemade alcohol injection came on after 14 psi. On street tires. It was stripped to bare bones and weighed 2,250 pounds. It ran 14.6 seconds at 98.25 MPH. Would you believe some of the best quarter mile times were when I carried a passenger? Right. An extra 125 pounds (girlfriend) but much better traction. Besides she would watch the boost gauge and tach. She would yell out "shift" when the tach hit 5,300 rpm. We slid both front seats as far forward as they could go, to transfer weight up front. Coin related? I found a 1943P war nickel in the glove compartment.
In terms of 2007 dollars, gold was well above $2,000 an ounce in 1980. The peak price of $850 an ounce in 1980 was the equivalent of $2,150 an ounce in today's dollars. Seen another way, today's $800 an ounce is equivalent to $316 in 1980 dollars; not very impressive and about the midpoint of 1979 prices, the year before gold prices soared. The problem with forecasting huge profits from $2,000 per ounce gold in the future is that they'll be bought with increasingly devalued dollars.
I like this forum, it's interesting and a lot of times informative! I often come away with good info! But this thread? Ah, gold fever, aint it fun! Especially for us short term commodity traders!TIME FOR SOME COLD WATER! If anyone had invested 10 grand in gold in 1980, (12.5 oz.) you'd just about be getting your money back now, 27 years later. Actually it has been pointed out more like 35% adjusted inflation dollars. That same amuont in conservative stocks and bonds-low estimate 100 grand.(gold would have to hit $8000/oz.)Rare coins, real estate and other rarities posted similar and even better gains.Me?,I can't wait to get to my favorite dealer and sell those few oz.s of gold I bought in 1980!!! I still love my rare gold coins though!
sure to pass $850.00 it is sure to pass $850.00 mark very soon. and it will also hit $1,000.00 by next year. next week. it can hit $825.00.
