What do i say now... i started off stacking for political reason

 

I stack because silver is beautiful, and I love feeling like a pirate every time I crack open my treasure chest and see my pile of silver inside. Aye matey! Ye landlovers better stay away from me swag, or ye shall walk the plank.

Really, this was not meant to offend anyone. It was a matter of simple curiosity. I believed from in person time at shops and shows that most collectors here would also be within that demographic. But I understand if it is not acceptable to ask people to voluntarily share that information.

 

With the edits, it's hard to put together what the original question was. But this we all know - there is a very particular demographic that is closely aligned with the coin hobby and PM's in particular. Edit seems to be a cultural imperative.

 

I started because my grandfather gave me a huge bag of "junk silver" he collected from his days. I started a bag of gold and I'll pass it on just as he passed it on to me. I do hold other coins that I plan to sell when I retire. The stuff he passed to me is the stuff I plan to pass on, like others said, its really nice to have and hold.

 

That sounds more like John J. Ford Jr. who may not have been much of a silver stacker since he detested Morgan dollars. Not just because they were federal coins either. As junior partner at New Netherland he had to lug bags of searched Morgans down to the street for Harry Foreman to pickup.

Cool. I still have the John J. Ford auction catalog. I threw out a bunch when I moved, but for some reason I tossed that one on the "keeper" pile.

 

By the way, the cowboy hat and boots, Edited aren't quite mandatory, but they are frequently chosen options.

Point is - you generally don't see too many Prius cars in the parking lot at a coin auction. I felt I had to explain myself with my Subaru Wagon. (She has since expired - with well over 300,000 miles on her.)

I think the OP was asking about the demographic for bullion "investors". All I have to say is it is probably not a whole cross section of society. Corn Nuts I tell you, Corn nuts.

 

I wish someone would do a bio on him and Eric P. Newman. They were giants.

 

If some of you have actual statistical data on the demographics of this, state the url and the authoritative source, not 'data' you pulled out of your 'hat'. You are trying to make a political statement and it will not lead to anything good! Believe me!
