For what it's worth, provident has 1/10 oz maples for even cheaper, and they are .999 gold.......I believe it's only 8.5% above spot.
Yeah that’s a pretty good deal want to add one to my collection thanks for the heads up. Thanks, icollectoldmoney
Indeed. I have purchased many 1/10 gold Maples from Provident and always been pleased. I am thinking about adding my first AGE of any size, believe it or not.
Well, the deal is over and gold has jumped a couple bucks since last night. Was anyone able to buy one for under $140?
For less money, would I rather have something that is .9167 Fine Gold, or .9999 Fine Gold. Easy answer for me - get the maple leaf.
Until the end of times we will be having to point that out to people. It gets old after a while, huh?! Having said that, I think the Maple Leaf is just better looking that the Eagle, so that's why most of gold is held in Maples of some kind. This little 1/10th purchase was because I don't have a Gold Eagle and finally wanted to add one at a decent price. On that note, not to upset you too much, but I no longer hold ANY Krugerrands! I need to add one back at some point.
Bars just too easily counterfeited. I will never own a gold bar of any kind. The Gold Maples have the best security, so that's why most of my gold is in them. Premiums are also under 3% when I buy them in full ounces.
Outside the package maybe, also I was referring the one ounce bars when I was saying there the closest to spot price u have seen, I actually saw one yesterday for a buy it now free shipping at the exact spot price.
Unfortunately they are counterfeited often inside the package as well. It's very common with Perth gold bars, for instance. I just don't see why someone would risk losing $1300 for an ounce of counterfeited gold just because they can buy it for $30 cheaper than a Gold Maple. However, there are some interesting new ones on the market like Sunshine bars with security engravings that seem very secure. I find those attractive. They can be purchased today for $1311, whereas a gold Maple in the security feature years can be purchased for $1330.
Save up for a 'one ouncer'. 'Fractionals' get low balled when ya go to sell. Unless, you like the fractionals, and if that is so, by all means do it......
Yep, that is absolutely true advice. I do not own any Gold Eagles. This will be my one. I buy 1 oz Gold Maples every year as my primary gold. Provident's stated buy back price is pretty accurate. They sell a 1/10 AGE for $140-$146 but buy back for only $131. In other words, they sell for over 10% over spot but by back for only only 2.5% over.
Even though the deal is no longer offered on their deal page, if you follow the direct link you can still order one at a discount: https://www.providentmetals.com/1-10-oz-us-gold-eagle-coin-dates-our-choice.html
