As long as you keep it in a vacuum, or under an inert atmosphere. Perhaps in those apocryphal "air-tight slabs".

Oh, and don't handle it with ungloved fingers!

WOW. I'm used to paying more for milk here (NC) than where I grew up (MD), but for a couple of months now Kroger has been selling skim for $1.49/gallon. Aldi is at $1.68, and I think they sell whole milk at the same price. It was higher than that 30 years ago when I was in grad school.

For a couple of weeks Aldi was selling milk for $1.08/gallon. I suspect an inventory management problem.

I love cheap milk, but I'd rather not drive the dairy farmers into bankruptcy.

I had to check as I buy Lactose free milk.
But regular milk is about $1.89 a gallon at Meijer here for 2%, Full, etc.
There's an Aldi here to but I rarely go there.

Here in Oregon it's $4. But everything in Oregon is expensive.

Gov't artificially deflates the price to make it affordable for everyone. True cost of milk is $8 - $10 per gallon, depending on feed/pasture/overhead etc. Last time I checked the farmer gets about 25 cents per gallon in a commercial setting.

Ran a dairy for 4 years. No money there. In fact, in general, no money in food whatsoever . . . unless you've got a niche heirloom organic product and deliver to Beverly Hills.

    Where's the money . . . ? Luxury items. There's our 'common sense'.

I'm not worried about that. I am in it for the short term, a year or two maybe, and monitor it daily. Right now it is going strong. I'm going to ride the wave while it lasts. I have no idea how long that will be. All I know is that my portfolio since August has gained at an annualized rate of 40% and it is made up of only about 15% lithium stocks, but they have contributed a large part of that growth.

Yup My grandpa got the same price for his milk in 73 that dairy farmers get now. He was able to retire with a few bucks in the bank, Now here the mennonites take on farms with a triple generation to pay the bank I have heard. 99% of our small herd dairies are gone now. Its Real Sad too.
I spent a long time on a 200 head dairy farm, Doing everything. I can say I liked tractor work better than the parlor.

No sales tax in Oregon...they tax the vendor, not the vendee.

How many weed farms replaced milk farms? I never really cared for milk myself unless it had nestle Quick powdered chocolate with it.

This thread has the dumbest title on the site — based on what silver was doing on April 1, 2016. I wish someone would start a new silver discussion thread and ask the moderators to close this one.
