In brief, in 2008/2009 when the economy collapsed a lot of jobs were lost overseas at least in this area. When hiring started coming back many didn't come back as a full time job or came back as contract. Many part time jobs were also scaled back to under 30 hours to prevent the ACA insurance mandate dependent upon company size. Thus the underemployed segment was born who can't get the hours that they want.
Kurt isn't an expert in economics, he's an adherent of Keynesianism with a penchant for insulting others. I've consulted many people with a far greater understanding of modern economics than Kurt. I've studied the subject myself and feel comfortable and enjoy discussing it. I don't like the insults either, but what to do? If you don't like my responses to Kurt, you're welcomed and encouraged to ignore them. Or is that too anti-intellectual for you?
More rubbish. Where's your demand going to come from with near record private sector debt, stagnant or even falling wages and "robots"? How many times can the CPI be revised, to show only Rainbows and Unicorns results from your "Macro-Scientist" alchemy (currency inflation)? Dolt. (lol)
Like it or not, accept it or not, understand it or not, Keynesianism is far and away almost universally accepted by the economics profession as proven and mainstream. Austrianism is regarded, correctly, as a crackpot fringe ideology. As for my expertise, the faculty that accepted my senior dissertation would disagree with you. Ironically enough, it was on how unequal access to quality education opportunity perpetuates cross-generational ignorance and poverty. Yeah, it was kinda about YOU!!!
I have you on ignore, as you know. But this post was the last in the thread so it was shown, without content of course. Curiosity got the better of me so I opened it. So glad I did: it game me a really good chuckle. So sad that you think Keynesianism is correct for the simple reason that it is accepted as mainstream. Don't you understand that it is only accepted as such because anything else would totally upset the applecart? Austrianism is only regarded as "crackpot fringe ideology" (your words, not mine) because if it became mainstream the entire edifice constructed by those in power would collapse and people would take back their innate rights. Something similar is happening in the world of cannabis. In the 1930s the oil barons found it expedient to replace natural medicines with pharmaceutical drugs, a large component of which was oil-based. They got hemp and cannabis outlawed (in 1936 I believe). It has taken 80 years for the revolution to happen but people are now learning at it is now a very powerful drug which cures all sorts of diseases and it is becoming legal again across many states. I really hope it doesn't take much longer for people to realize that Keynesian only survives because those who gain from it will only allow it, and nothing else, to be taught in the universities (endowed chairs and all the stuff). As such all "educated" economists know of nothing else. People who think, as opposed to regurgitate the pablum, know otherwise. For those of you who believe the Keynesian way is the only way I strongly encourage you to read outside the box. You will be surprised at what you find. I don't think I am allowed to post links to such here as they probably violate some TOS, but I would happily pass them on through PM is you are interested.
Curing diseases is not why it is becoming legal at the state level at all, it's only real medicinal purpose is as a pain reliever and appetite stimulation.
Your clearly have not done the research in it that my wife has. Yes, my statements are secondhand, but I have known her long enough to trust her judgment. But, you don't seem to do much research on any of the stuff you blurt out. Are you Kurt's brother.
Believe all the pro cannabis sites that come up on google if you want. I'll let my opinion rely on medical facts. Real medicine gives people a fighting chance and has greatly improved survival rates from the days of using cannabis as "medicine" by why let facts get in the way. Should we go back to putting actual coke in Coca-Cola too?
You can back all of the world's fiat with gold, just not at the current price. Jim Rickards figures a 40% backing could be done at $20k/oz.
No one with any sense would ever use Google. And, no, don't ask me what I use instead. Do you own research.
I did that's how I know that it's effectiveness rates in most of it's studies was the same as placebos in other studies. That's how I also know the version of it studied is completely different than what is being legalized or sold on the streets. It's only real contribution is the ability to manage side effects. Unless of course you don't believe the New England Journal of Medicine. Legitimate medical researchers and studies do not support the wildly over blown claims that the legalize crowd makes because they want to use it themselves nor are voters voting to allow it or decriminalize it because they believe it's a magical cure all drug. They vote for it because they like it and want to use it, want the tax money from it, or just think the penalties were to harsh.
But now all world currencies are tied to the US Dollar, so all the life rafts are still tied to the Titanic.
Like irony? Well the legislature for which I work has joined the medical cannabis list. For which conditions? Seventeen specified conditions, each itemized in the statute, and the smokable form remains illegal, even for medicinal purposes. Only oils, ointments, tinctures, pills, and other itemized forms of processed products are legal, and the practitioner and patient registries are now being populated. How do I feel? I serve at the pleasure of the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and I support however he feels about it. I have two of the 17 conditions and my son has a third one. Will we try medical cannabis? Not bloody likely. No insurance coverage and our conditions are being managed with traditional treatments.
