Well I Finally decided to crack open this 1967 SMS set that I've been hording for a while now and low and behold I stumbled across this beautiful Gem and I could not believe my eyes ... I was truly amazed . So either this is a flawless DD specimen or this is some nice Multi-machine doubling as someone else called it ... but anyway as always I'll allow you guys to tell me what you think it is ?
These are the same pics he already posted earlier in a thread asking if the coin had machine doubling. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/machine-doubling-doubled-die-or-both.301804/
Oops. I'm wrong lol. SMS Didn't know what that means at first I've looked around the edges of the devices and see no doubling. I do see a lot of die deterioration
I don't see any signs of this being a doubled die but we could just call it that if that is what you want to hear.
When posting multiple photos of same or similar coins, you will get less confusing answers if you space them by a line or 3 and add a number between them for reference such as below. Photo 1: 1909-S RPM-002 S/S Horizontal Photo #2 Same as above, but higher magnification Just a suggestion. Jim
I sometimes just like to get other people's opinions and input as is the case here ... But I certainly hope that I'm not committing a coin talk crime by doing so . Because If so then I do apologize as that is certainly not my intention .
Oh and here are better angels showing that the edges are not flat and shelf like at all ... I guess that angels of the photo made them appear to be flat and shelf like but from a closer Photo from the side you can actually see the roundness of the strike...
It doesn't matter how many angles you take. It's MD in every one. Look at the difference. WDDO-002 is a SMS DDO. Note there are 2 separate but full sets of letters overlapping. It is blatantly obvious your coin is not a doubled die. http://doubleddie.com/1967437.html
Well I noticed that someone mentioned that they were flat and shelf like when they aren't so I just wanted to point that out
