I meant the North Korean nuclear news and threats are causing all silver to go up.

Gold up $12 plus. International conflicts tend to do that.

It is not up so much yet. Only 3% in the last 24 hours. Don't get too excited. The more it goes up the more it will go down on the correction. I remember a daily drop of 9% in the past.

Well, they wouldn't need as much silver. So silver should be going down. :D

12 ounces = 1 troy pound. "Not" 16 ounces as most things are considered a pound

    1 troy ounce = 31.103 gms
    1 avoirdupois ounce = 28.350 gms.

    1 troy pound = 12 troy ounces = 373.242 gm
    1 avoirdupois pound = 16 avoirdupois ounces = 453.592 gm

So a troy ounce is about 10% heavier than an avoirdupois ounce but a troy pound is about 18% lighter than an avoirdupois pound.

Those are the numbers and I don't have a clue why it is that way. I've done my bit so now you can do your bit and research a reason why and let us know. :)

Considering what is driving up PMs prices, I would prefer to temper my enthusiasm.

When "avoirdupois" first appeared in English in the 15th century, it carried a meaning of "goods sold by weight," which is also the meaning of its Middle English predecessor, "avoir de pois." That term derives from an Anglo-French phrase meaning "goods of weight." Today, "avoirdupois" most commonly refers to the system of weight measurement used for general merchandise, in which the pound is equal to 16 ounces, the ounce 16 drams, and the dram 27.344 grains. (Some other weight systems are apothecaries' weight, used to measure pharmaceutical items, and troy weight, used for precious metals.) It was Shakespeare, in his play Henry IV(1597), who first used "avoirdupois" to mean "heaviness."

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster played down the risk on Sunday of the rhetoric escalating into conflict.
World stocks rallied on Monday as investors took heart from the less bellicose rhetoric.
And we are going down again!!!.
