Why is the bullion forum mostly silver discussion?

    I just don't get it.

More affordable than gold with the hopes of having a better upswing. The longer I follow it, the more I am attracted to gold. I have finally bought some after being a total silver bug.

Start talking bout gold more and perhaps people will follow. My believe is that not so many people buy gold bullion. Most buy it in the form of coins and it is more natural to discuss, say, a sovereign under world coins.

I imagine not many want to discuss their gold holdings either.

I'd agree with this. If you have a real stack of gold, why invite unwanted attention. A real stack of silver takes a cart to drag away, a real stack of gold takes a pocket. Plus, there are many more items available in silver....like new stuff released weekly...and gold maybe a few times a year.

It is not practical to store a lot of silver in a safe deposit box but I would hope that most people have their gold safely put away where no one can get at it.

Not a Requirement by any means, but in order to graduate onto gold one should first have their weight in silver.:p

I agree with silverhouse. Most people that I know that are "stacking" gold in their safe are security conscious, and don't let people know what they're doing.

Because most people own mostly silver rather than gold?

Right, because trying to rob a silver stacker would result in a bad back and not even enough loot from the haul to pay for the back surgery to fix it.

I don't think that would take a cart.

1000 ounces is only 68 lbs, over 15k in cash and I don't know about you, but I could handle that without much more than a cloth bag or two.

That could still be a problem. You're forgetting how many old farts there are on here.

However, you gave me a great idea: they could use their Rascal scooters to transport the haul. (assuming their own body weight isn't already near the maximum load limit)

And $15,000 is less than 12 oz of gold...BTW, that would be a Troy pound...

The real reason for stacking silver instead of gold is because, don't you know, we're all just sitting around here twirling the Dirty Harry .44 mag and slugging on a bottle of JD waiting for the zombie apocalypse so we can rook the granny down the street by buying her house with a handful of ASE's instead of something "real" like a gold maple or a five jillion to one Fang share. Is that the answer you're looking for..."Jason?"

You don't "need" to make friends here, but it's just plain stupid to purposely make enemies here. JMHO.
