The case to be made for gold vs silver

I agree and with @Johndoe2000$ as well as far as the frequency plan. At this point, for me, I feel that if you can meet or beat the 10% premium it's a lateral move between each. I also agree with the earlier statement that although it seems that silver, for the most part, carries a slightly higher premium you'll capture that back on the sale.

Just out of curiosity, will you be buying gold in dips or are you going to just purchase as your benchmark/budget is satisfied to make a buy?

 

Myself, if something irresistible shows up I'm a buyer. Otherwise I'm in holding mode for PMs at this time.

 

I've been eyeing gold for a couple days and found a listing that has 1ozt sealed w assay for only a 6% premium. It has the finger itchy but I'm hesitant to squeeze. I just have to trust the gut and not mind which way the tide turns.

You can find gold bars for just a few dollars over spot. It's always a risk though. At least with gold bullion coins, you get prettier, more collectable pieces for a little more premium. Good luck with your decision.

Oh, don't do that! Buy a government issued bullion coin instead, preferably something is 9999 gold so that you won't run the risk of copper spotting or other ugly problems. A gold bullion bar will be harder to sell because of the higher risk of counterfeiting. Plus, they're kind of boring.

Gold Maples (random year 1 oz) can be had for 3.5% over spot
Current Year gold Maples can be had for 3.9% over!
Gold Buffaloes (random year or current year) can he had for a little more than 5% over spot.

etc.

Lots of good options out there for a lower premium and better security.

 

I did hear that they were counterfeiting bars and actually had a hard time trading a 5g sealed Pamp at a coin shop for some coins. The guy kept acting like he was doing me a favor when I was actually getting shafted (only my second coin shop visit as an adult). He said the CN were counterfeiting them in Pamp cards with serials and they were getting past people that really knew assays. After I realized the ride I was taken on I mentioned it to a fellow collector that I trust and he said the same thing. Crazy. How is it that they are putting that much effort into the bars but not govt issued pieces?

Try ... "DAILY DEALS SILVER BULLION" or ("GOLD") on EBAY. Many of the big bullion dealers have specials with free shipping. You'll get some good deals, or at least good place to compare prices anyway.

 

I'll give that a shot thanks John. When buying gold online I stick to the big dealers. I do like calling my few pawn shops to see if they have any maples or eagles and on the rare occasion that they do they are more than happy to give it to me at 2.5% premium (cash, of course). But those "yes we do"s are few and far between.

 

Market needs to shift bank to Bank and very soon. Cannot support this size market on FB, Twitter & Apple (burn my own market) stocks.

 

By one of those strange coincidences, this article came out today. Of the 12 "antibiotic seeds" we have deliberately grown six of them (garlic, ginger, turmeric, elderberry, echinacea, cumin) and have one other growing wild on our property (goldenseal). We regularly use four of the others (not indigo). I have not taken an antibiotic drug in many, many years.

This is the same website which once encouraged readers to treat ebola with homeopathy. It tells readers to not vaccinate by fabricating stories about their safety. It scares readers with false claims about GMOs.

Look, eat your garlic, cook some delicious curry with your turmeric. But never, EVER, risk your health by eating these things when you need a doctor prescribed antibiotic.

All that you claim is spread by the mainstream media because they are controled by corporations which would lose money if your claims were false. I know from first hand experience that my claims are true.

Let's just leave it at that because I am afraid that if we don't we will end up discussing politics, which I don't like to do and is forbidden here anyway. If you want to discuss it further we should do it in PM.

Some of us opt out of that stuff so please don't peddle their garbage here. What Sakata said was referring to something that was mentioned earlier in this thread. Some of us remembered it, enjoyed the add and also have the common sense to make our own judgment of what is and is not good for each of us as individuals. But I'm not going to tell you not to eat GMO, or antibiotic treated meats, get your flu shot, etc- there is an economy to support.

 

It's not a matter of "discussing politics" or "burying [my] head" in ignorance of facts "they" are hiding from us. It's a matter of having actually witnessed how DNA works, separating it through gel elctrophoresis myself. Understanding that a small tweak in an organism's genetic code can lead to the production of vitamin A and help malnourished people stave off childhood blindness! It's about ACTUALLY observing the destruction of bacteria with the application of antibiotics. It's about having very close friends in my graduate school cohort, who attained a PhD level in biology, chemistry, and engineering, actually being published in these "so-called" journals that peer review to determine if this stuff actually works. It does.

You burying your silver in your back yard won't kill anyone. But you advocating people eating garlic instead of seeking the advice of a doctor who will prescribe antibiotics, might.
