With bars I like the closest to spot route. I just traded eighty 40% Kennedy Halves for a Sunshine ten ounce bar. The only silver I will buy at $2.50-$3.00 premium for my personal investing stash are ASE's. I might buy some Darth Vader silver for gifts though.
Nice book, but not sure if art bars are the same as regular bullion manufactures The bars i am talking about have no special designs other then being old and Put together by certain companies.
yep old poured bars from the 70's or earlier. I have some of the old "kit kat" shaped bars. Usually they're simply shaped and stamped. some of them in unique weights. they're cool
So again, the question being why would i pay more? and how would i know i am Not over paying ? just legitimate questions
It seems you are going to have to research a silver bar when you find one you want. Try checking for similar items on Provident Metals, APmex and JM Bullion to get an idea on prices as well as on e-bay for both active and retired auctions. As far as rarity and even prices do a google search and read articles concerning silver bars. I did just this before I bought my hand poured bars and let me tell you I was equipped knowing both the price and rarity not to mention the background of the refiners. Here I found this article helpful. http://www.buysilver.net/articles/ Good Luck Mpcusa
So generally speaking hand poured bars are worth more ? just picked up a 1 Kilo bar from Amex got some good incentives so was able to save about $200
I'd say old poured bars are. bars from the last 10 years, not so much. there are exceptions. I really like Geiger bars and they aren't poured
These are 1oz, gold plate over .999 silver. Tommy over at DT Mint made them, they are serial numbered sets and very few of them. He also has a set in plain silver. One of these days IF I can shake down the local casino for $500, I'll see what it would take to add the silver set. I got a GOOD deal on the gold/silver set at $300.
