Do you mean only government issued coins? I have seen bullion coins here in South Korea that are nice and haven't seen them anywhere else, but I don't think they are government mint...
I’ve got 1 oz coins of the following: Eagle, Buffalo, Maple Leaf, Libertad, Britannia, Philharmonic. Ranking them in order of what I am most likely to buy in the future… 1. Mexican Libertad 2. American Buffalo 3. American Eagle 4. Canadian Maple Leaf 5. British Britannia 6. Austrian Philharmonic I think the Maple Leaf is a beautiful coin but I worry about the milk spots coming in the future. I’ve got my Maple Leafs in air-tites so hopefully they are good I received a Buffalo the other night and it is a great coin.
I thought the milk spots were on silver maples. The british 1 oz gold to me is much better looking than a gold maple. philharmonics are really boring
Yes. I have never heard anything about milk spotting on gold. I'd be happy to learn more if someone can provide evidence.
Strange you should post that now. I just started this thread last night: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/anyone-know-much-about-this-it-is-a-kim-thanh-half-tael.291384/
I picked up a few European coins. All the same dimensions, 21mm and .1867oz each. Most are 20 Francs from France, Belgium and Switzerland. But I picked up a 20 Lire from Italy featuring Umberto I, an 1884A 20 Drachmai from Greece and a 5 Roubles from Russia.
Not sure if this would be Bullion or novelty, but I did buy it at spot. Diamond eyes were freebie... Mongolia 1999 1000 Tugriks 7.76g 0.586 gold Diamond Eyed Tiger 0.1 karat
Not very good photos but just got this one today. Korean gold coin based on their ancient coin. May have been their first coin I think. 3.75 gram Oh this is not circulated by a national body. Sorry~~
I prefer Gold Maples, which I buy 1 or 2 annually for bullion. For numismatic and bullion value, I buy Sovereigns when the price is right. I also have an Austrian Ducat in the mix. I can't decide whether I want to stick to Sovereigns or switch to Britannias because of the price. Older Sovereigns are just more collectible.
Thank you! I have noticed an unfortunate "tone" on this board, and I don't mean the silver. Some people seem awfully rude here. And I don't think I'm saying that just because I'm Canadian!
Don't sweat it. Most on here are super helpful and friendly. Don't let a few bad apples ruin it for you.
