I came accross a Canadian penny - probably minted within the past 10 years - it has no date stamp on the maple leaf side, but it does have a small KG on the right side of the maple leaf. On the back is Queen Elizabeth II and there is a date on the left side 1952-2002 and a small P. Would a penny without a date be of any value? PS - I am new at this, but very interested in coin collecting.
Welcome! You have one of 716,366,000 Canadian Cents commemorating the 50th anniversary of Elizabeth II becoming Queen. It is Bronze-plated zinc (that's what the P is for) and was minted in 2002. Uncirculated it might be worth 50 cents. If it came in change it's worth 1 Cent (Canadian),
Thanks bohica Thanks. I had not seen one before. So now I know - I have a penny!! Wooohooo! I appreciate the info. Cheers!
Hi i have the same kid of penny but it says 1867-1992 do you know what this penny is is it special or what?
Oldest thread of the year contestant. As for the above poster, I believe it is only worth 1 Canadian cent. Ignore the part that says the melt value is .02 cents. It's not. Here is a link, I hope it helps: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-1992&years=

bohica, I have used your screen name on many occasions in the USAF. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I wonder how many actually know what that stands for!!
