I'm interested in getting into Pre-33 Gold. I wanted to know what the market is like, dealer buy back, etc. Are you better off just getting modern AGE's and Buffs or is the Pre-33 similar in the Eagle and Double Eagle denominations?
Are you looking at them from a gold content or a numismatic stand point? Generic common date coins will sell like bullion, sometimes for less than AGEs depending on what you buy. But nicer coins and better dates will carry premiums.
Not much nowadays...I'm selling two AU $20s for spot gold price, and a one oz. NGC PR70 Buffalo for spot + $175.
I did not do well. They want decent premium even for common years but its hard to get that premium back. I think most people buying gold want .9999. I would say buy only if you find a good deal low premium.
