While I have not yet visit a coin shop for comparison, it does have a "satin" finish?!!! Could this be a 1922 low relief satin? I found it in my neighbor's house while I was helping him move.

edited: black background made the coin look too gold.

I see a circulated common date 1922 Peace Dollar. A satin proof would have a much better strike, especially in the lettering.

Strike doesn't have anything to do with wear. It refers to the strength of the original strike. In terms of the letters, you would want to look for more defined, detailed, and "strong" letters. Wear will affect this, but a good strike can still be determined as a good strike even with wear.

Thanks, so the "strike(defined, detailed, etc) is what is rare. Not the "satin" tone of the coin? Must have both.

I poorly assumed that the "satin" color of the 1922 was rare. The "strike" in person seems to be covered by microscopic years of dirt. lol

Here is a pic I took with a black background, it made the coin look gold, kind of nice.

Last perspective of the coin...and the horse can go to heaven 20170322_003408.jpg 20170322_003555.jpg 20170322_003614.jpg 20170322_003316.jpg . It's amazing how different the coin can look depending on the shot of the camera.

Really? Its clearly not a proof, at a single glance, if one knows anything about peace dollars. The strike is typical of a business not a proof. That would be a big waste of money.

It is not a satin Peace Dollar. It is a garden variety 1922 circulated Peace Dollar.
