I've been eyeing one of those 5 ouncers, the 2011 ATB Vicksburg 5 oz Silver Coin .. as it has an old iron sides on it.
Gold is leading the real change. Looks like, at this point, gold is not buying in to significant drops when the Fed raises rates. This causes higher priced asset alternatives, which lowers gold. Perhaps a change when the Fed meets to raise rates again? Or, is gold calling their bluff and staying buoyant as an alternative currency / store of wealth? It seems like the other Central Banks long term buying is creating buoyancy for gold, and it is staying stable. Silver follows. So far the tech impact has not really significantly changed silver, rather it still continues at playing as the pocket change to gold, with gold being the world / central banks’ currency. I stay focussed on gold as the currency, and consider silver as the change. My thoughts…
I was reading through some silver sites and the gap between where silver trades and what it actually costs to mine has widened a lot this cycle. That margin is the reason miners aren't panicking over short-term price swings the way headlines suggest. if true that explains to me the swings
Chile has lowered production estimates for mining due to the very heavy rainfall in production areas. Roads and utilities have reduced capacity for mining, transport and refining. Affects both copper and the silver which is the major profit for most mines. A tailwind for silver. But today silver lost its luster with a steady increase in interest rates. 10yr closed over 5%. Yet silver posted up at days end. Push me, pull you. Supply/demand ruled the day. $66.78 at this time
10 year interest 5.077 and climbing. Flashing red for metals. Margin players reconsider here. Supply/demand unchanged. Another possible entry level in SLV for lil old me
10 yr interest rate hit 5.232 this morning. Around 11:30 started down and continues down. Silver inverse reaction is straight up. Yea
So am I but I also have some other investments. If interest rates were lower more people would borrow money. That would stimulate the economy overall, but it would also be good for precious metals. Silver is in very short supply for the entire world. If the price is silver would rise in price that would also be good for the economy. And it would be very good for me.
