Here’s two. Either for $700. Not sure either is “the one” for me, but they’re on my “thinkin’ about it” list. Probably the 40-drachmae. Edit: nope. Didn’t happen. Day one on the floor, and I’ve managed not to spend any money yet.
An AU Chain cent is indeed impressive, but I thought the Ptolemaic octodrachm might be more in your lane.
I mentioned wanting to upgrade my rather “meh” 1899-S MS62 $20 Lib to a common-date 1800s coin in 63 or 64. This 1895 NGC MS63 presented itself as a possibility- the upgrade would cost me $150 with the trade-in of my coin. I might do it, but think I’ll shop around a bit more. (My coin at left, dealer’s coin at right. Sorry for poor pic.)
Outside in the smokers’ section. Somebody peeled a price sticker off and stuck it on the table. We will never know what coin that was once stuck on, but it’s fun to guess. I guarantee you that cigarette-scarred table is not worth $72K.
Day 1 done. Next stop, hotel, then dinner. Gotta get Randy his monster steak. In the convention center parking lot. First Tesla Cybertruck I’ve seen in person that wasn’t that basic silver color. What ugly things. Yeah, they’re kinda cool-ugly, but ugly.
I'd rather have the chain cent, weird huh? I love those darn EAC. I've always said if I never got into ancients, or choose to change directions, EAC would be my next area of coin collecting I would venture too. I've always been drawn to them.
Alright….. Quick everyone. I am about to have the CT moderating staff at dinner….. If you want to act up…. NOW IS THE TIME!!!
I think you can find a deal somewhere. The numismatic premiums on 64 and below have all but disappeared.
