Hello everyone, Current copper price per ounce $0.33 I wanted to share these 5 ounce Copper bars my step son Arjenis has been collecting. They are the Epic Warriors series. He has 4 of the 6.. He is missing the Amazon woman and the Samurai Warrior Images from the web.. He has 2 extra of 4
One Copper cent weights approximatly 3.11 grams, so 10 cents would equal a Troy ounce that weights 31.1035 grams. Copper is not usually weighed in troy ounces. The advoirdupois ounce is the more common weight for copper due to it not being considered a precious metal. The advourdipois ounce is equal to 28.3495 grams which is closer to 9 cents per ounce, and then copper US cents are not pure copper, so a bit more maths are required to refine it further to an accurate answer.
Jeeze I just sold 70 lbs last week for 4 bucks a pound. Farm scrap wire, Should be melting it into ingots I guess!
It would take about 48 copper cents (to be closer to exact, 47.97681502792351) to have five ounces of copper, avoirdupois. As mentioned above, they are only 95% copper, so the 5% zinc (or zinc and tin for older cents) would have to be refined out. (By the way, the term avoirdupois comes from the French, "avoir du pois," meaning, "to have weight.")
