  1. The Half Dime

    The Half Dime Arrows!

I got this one for $9, which undercut Greysheet for the top 3 grades for this coin. If it was PCGS or NGC, I'd be rolling in cash.

    And this, for $21:

Greysheet is $48 on this piece.

Some wild textile toning. Crazy to look at:

Nice Pickups! I'm not a fan of peace dollars but that toning is pretty awesome

Typically I like my moderns to be from my own submissions, but these prooflike coins are hard to find and they bring huge registry points.

This will be mine in a few months. Thanks to a dealer who is willing to engage in a long term lay-a-way. This coin wasn't even on my want list of Colonial coins because you never see them. The dealer told me that this was their second example, the first was back in 2017.

1783 John Chalmers Shilling, F-15 long worm, R-4. This particular coin was last seen in a Stacks auction in 2021.

I should make a thread highlighting some of my buffalo nickels.

It looks like I tore down my photography setup about a year ago. I still have "newest acquisitions" that I am just starting to photograph now.

This is a 1966 SMS that I bought as a standard for what a MS67 should look like. Unfortunately, an SMS does not look much like a business strike, so it wasn't really any use for setting up a grading standard. Still, it was under $10, and it did make me think that my existing 66 SMS (post #4473) is also MS67. Or higher?

That's about as perfect as a cent comes. That little statue better take care to make sure his pants are zipped up. :D Wow at the detail!

I almost never buy a raw coin on ebay. But this almost qualifies for the under $50 thread and I liked the textile toning on the obverse. Not vibrant, but real nice colors in hand.

I got this a year ago in March, but only took photos last September. I wasn’t really happy with the coin so I never posted pictures.

I have not been comfortable with my original example. Maybe it’s a great coin, but something about the luster and color and lack of dirt just don’t seem right. (Original post with an animation is post #28134.)

While the replacement has nice maroon toning on the reverse, I felt it was too dark and had a mushy strike.

I tried again later and got a coin I liked. I will post that in a bit as I catch up with these Newest Acquisitions.
