For many, bullion are swaps against "everything is awesome." It's a culture. Your not going change anyone. If you don't believe me just ask the wallstreet crowd how many stackers have been moved by their "logical" posts.

I don't mind people collecting bullion, but, stop grading all the Strike-through and then wanting hundreds of dollars for them .

Their " Bullion " Coins and nothing more . Now I'm going one stop further, not much different then what " Moon-Light Mint " is doing ..

Some people like to collect rings, chains, necklaces etc made of gold and silver. With those, at retail, you are paying a hefty premium for sales, manufacturing, even the brand name.

For PMs though you get a bigger chunk of PMs based on melt. When you go sell those fancy rings, chains etc that's when you find out all the overhead costs are stripped off and you're left with maybe 30% of it's value. Like a new spaceship when you drive it off the alien dealer's lot.

    Howdy,

I concur with the moderator but would add that being a moderator is brutal tough. We ALL are fully aware that geopolitical events impact the bullion market - much more so, I would posit, than coin values. How to talk about them and their impact without getting into political/off topic/woowoo stuff is the nut. Most of us slip now and again. feh. It happens.

What I do is ignore the threads that get off topic and relish those that stay on course.

    and so it goes,

    peace,

    rono

Here is the definition (from a Google search):Woo-woo (or just plain woo) refers to ideas considered irrational or based on extremely flimsy evidence or that appeal to mysterious occult forces or powers. Here's a dictionary definition of woo-woo: adj. concerned with emotions, mysticism, or spiritualism; other than rational or scientific; mysterious; new agey. Apr 19, 2011

Yep. A woo woo idea is an idea based on those things described above and is an idea held without compelling evidence or any evidence at all.

    So for instance:
That you think there's even a slight possibility the government will confiscate our gold.
That you think, even without evidence, that aliens exist, landed on Earth, and the government is covering it up
That 9-11 was an inside job.
That you think an impending collapse of the U.S. economy is likely

Let me remind everyone - for your consideration - the current popular abbreviation for the name of this forum as well as for unlikely things in which people hold strong and irrational beliefs (e.g.: "woo-woo") is, in both cases, "CT"

Do you know of many investment venues where logic and rationale rule? If one existed, seems as though it would logically find a correct price and then rationally rot on the vine. Investing IMO, is more like being in a dream that has it's own logic. But the logic seems nonsensical to us after we wake up. Unless it was a dream about unicorns frolicking through wallstreet. That makes perfect sense. Those folks are sooooo logical. And they have "powers" too. Just go to a financial website and they can tell you why 100 million investors are acting as they do. How do they do that? Is it a mass Vulcan mind meld? Sorry, didn't mean to go alien on you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume you are a bullion invester. Please tell me why you would not want to try and learn what makes the folks you may trade against tick? That doesn't sound very logical.

Oh no. How can you say such a thing. You mean to say that aliens didn't control the ancient world? I have a headache. I better lie down.

Oh sure. Next you'll be claiming Mr. Data can't reconfigure a ball point pen into a new warp drive. Or Dilithium Crystals have a low ERoEI.
