I have the 1st release and like it a lot. I might add the Griffin too.

If it wasn't the 2 oz I'd get it. I just can't afford the extra price.

I personally think those wings could have spread wider instead of going up like that, when I first saw it I thought it was the Pope's Mitt...

I received the coin today. Looks really nice!!!:) The only thing is it came in a flip. Trying to find something like, an air tite, that would fit the coin. The diameter is not an issue. It's the 6mm thickness. The first one, of the series, came in holder last year but not sure who makes it. Anyone have any suggestions? I've checked a few dealers but nothing specific for this coin. I'll probably call the dealers tomorrow and see what they recommend.

    Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for the link!! I was on that site before I posted here lol I guess I just didn't look carefully enough. Now I need to decide if I should get 9 capsules since they're supposed to be 10 total. Do you think I can safely assume that all the coins will be the same size. That seems to be the case, in general, for most coin series. Thanks again!!

Yes there are supposed to be 10 Queen's Beasts in total and they will be (99% sure, lol) the same size, it makes no sense to make different diameter coins when they are in the same series :) Also this Griffin (2017) is actually the 2nd one in the 2 oz series, the first one is the Lion (2016)

However, I don't know if they are going to finish the series in the 2 oz size because my source of the 10 Queen's Beasts is actually a webpage from the Royal Mint for their new 2017 1oz ones (link as follows: http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_Lion_of_England_2017_UK_One_Ounce_Silver_Proof_Coin )

Maybe the proof versions are going to be different. It wouldn't make sense to change the weight. At least in my opinion!! Lol

Received my Griffin today. Photos don't do it justice. The feathers are both polished and a bit frosted. Looks really cool under a loupe.

  19. Oops...my bad. I meant 2016 2 oz silver Lion (non-proof). I saw that these were minted to demand starting last year and have now sold out at the Royal Mint. Just wondering if they have released official final mintages yet.

    You mean 2016 not 2017 right? [emoji13]

You were correct the first time. It's 2016 for the non-proof (bullion) 2 oz silver QB Lion.

Whereas, all the 2017 silver Lions are Proofs. Mintages for the 2017 Proofs were announced in advance of release.

But so far, I haven't found anything for final mintages for the 2016 Lion.
