put peppermint candies or something similar in your pocket where-ever you reach for that cigarette. It may help. Or put a piece of paper with a picture of what you will give yourself when you are free of this monster.
9:28pm MST had my last cigarette. Had my last chew 6 hours ago. That's it! Will put the patch on tomorrow morning. I have to keep reminding myself that I am not quitting or giving anything up. I am gaining health and wealth! That and I will be saying a million Serenity Prayers a day. I was going to buy some bullion online tomorrow but with silver trending down I might just wait and just enjoy being a none smoker.
I quit on April 14, 2015 using 14mg patches from the VA. I wasn't even trying to quit drinking coffee but had no desire for it after I quit smoking. I think I tried to quit cold turkey a hundred times before that. The best I could ever do was 17 hours. The patches definitely worked for me. I had a lot weird and even funny dreams during that time. Maybe because of the nicotine withdrawal? In one dream I dreamed I went into the dream and caught myself smoking. I threw up a hand at me and said "what's this!?" Then me said to me: "It's okay. It's just a dream." But seriousy those patches really worked for me. Everything was free for me. But I know otherwise they're expensive plus you have to pay for a doctor visit to get a prescription. But just think how much silver you can buy with the money you save. Stack-on!
Day 3 and no smoking or chew. I rewarded myself with 20 rounds of silver on the 20th. Spot was $15.64 when I got it and I paid $0.74 over spot.
The only way the patch works for me is if I put it over my mouth... I'm going to do this. You're inspiring, @Bman33. Keep it up...
I used the Nicorette. When I went to buy the gum, a guy was randomly standing there and said, "Don't use a generic. Nicorette works, generics don't." So I bought Nicorette. Within 1 box, following the directions, I quit. I smoked a pack a day for 16 years. As I said before, I quit, so can you. I am 2 weeks from quitting 3 years ago. @Bman33 you have one hell of a support group here to help you. Use us.
Day 4 no cigarettes or chew. I am using the 14mg Nicoderm CQ patch. I will be on it for 6 weeks then go down to 7mg for two weeks. It's an 8 week program. It gets rough for me after work and after dinner for some reason, but other than that I am doing good and not thinking about it much. That's $200 in cost so I might wait 8 weeks to make another silver purchase. The way silver has been going I don't think I will be missing out too much. Now if it goes to $14 like this time last year then I will throw down on it.
That's great. From your posts, you seem a cussed enough bird that when you decide to do something, it gets done. Even if you and your girlfriend flushed the money you saved down the toilet, it would still be worth it. But yeah, silver looks like a good buy right now. Best of luck.
Day 6 and I am hanging in there. With some Christmas money, savings from not smoking and a nice bonus at work I am going to get an ounce of gold. Where it's at right now it seems like a good idea. Now I gotta figure out if I go Buffalo or AGE. Thoughts and opinions would be great.
Whichever has the lowest premium I'm not big on buying slabbed PMs, but you MAY want to look at an MS-69 or lower graded coin, to give the future buyer some assurance that it is genuine. Keep up the good work. Stay strong.
Tough question. AGEs are a good buy due to the ease of reselling. You really wouldn't have much of a problem selling the Buffalo if you ever decided to do so either though. I would go for the Buffalo just because I have wanted one for a while now and I have bought and sold my share of AGEs. So I guess it's up to whatever you'd like to get. Can't go wrong either way in my book. Just be aware of the premiums.
It's been well over a year since I quit cigarettes. I sorta woke up one day and just had enough. Good luck, you can do it!!!
I have been tracking silver for a year now and have gotten used to the swings. I have not really tracked gold nor have a feel for how much it goes up and down. I know I will be paying about $65.00 over spot for an ounce. Any suggestions on how to get comfortable with gold? I just feel like right now is a good time to buy.
This. The money you would've spent on cigarettes is just a cool bonus. It's harder to calculate the money you'll save on health care over time. It may be a wash, though, because you'll need that money for the extra years you live and enjoy in retirement.
I quit smoking over 24 years ago and have never looked back. I have hoped my kids would never smoke, oldest one came home for Christmas smelling like cigarettes. Why do smart people make stupid decisions?
