    I can see the reasoning behind it -- eBay loses a bit to merchants on gift card sales, and they probably collect their smallest fees from large-scale bullion dealers, so they may well lose money on gift-card bullion sales. (I assume that's also why they stopped giving eBay Bucks on bullion.)

    What's got me riled up is that they made this change without notice, and without recourse for cards already purchased. I'd just finished going through close to $1000 worth of eBay gift cards, all spent on coins. If my timing had been slightly different, I would've been stuck. Since there was no notice, I wouldn't even have had the chance to "dump the balance" before the ban.

    Edit: not meaning to hijack OP's thread. This is a great deal for gold bars. I guess bringing the thread back to the top of the recent-posts list isn't a bad thing, at least. :)
