    saw that on the news.
Took an hour to walk what normally is 10 minutes.
some nice and clear video considering.

I can't believe the truck driver procedure (of course it probably isn't) is to have an unsecured open rear of the vehicle like that with valuables in plain open view.

We have a building in our downtown area where their ceiling on the first floor is completely covered in 24K gold flake. The building takes up the whole block. Thousands of square feet of gold ceiling.

They can probably find him at the chiropractor.

Didn't anyone see anything to think something might be a bit amiss? Life in the big city, I suppose.

Having lived in Manhattan (not far from this location actually) no one would have looked twice. I have seen WAY more odd things than a guy carrying a bucket and no one still bats an eye.

from the average bystander he could have been carrying
    (a) dirt
    (b) poo
    (c) his work belongings
    (d) water, or
    (e) gold flakes

Wonder when the theft was discovered. If the thief took an hour to move the bucket a few blocks, presumably the theft wasn't noticed for at least that long. Probably when the truck arrived at its destination, the receiving clerk checked the manifest and said, "Uh, guys, I think something is missing."

Should have called an uber. Dude was pretty strong
    Carrying that bucket.
Hey it's the holidays, he needed the money to feed his family.

Uber app would have identified him and tied him back to a license plate and account info.

If the guy got away, maybe he was one of the smarter crooks - or just damn lucky.

I'd imagine the bounty on the guy is quite high if they can recover the gold.

Loomis is offering $100K reward if the gold is recovered.

PARIS – French police say they are hunting for four men suspected of stealing gold dust worth an estimated 1.5 million euros from an armored truck Monday before setting cars ablaze near a major highway and fleeing.

The suspects, operating in multiple cars, surrounded the armored truck and forced it off the A6 highway between Paris and Lyon, a national gendarme service spokesman and a judicial official said.
