You can always make things simpler by offering to sell things for less than their market value. Cull silver dollars trade well above melt. It may or may not make sense, but that's just the way it is.
When you factor in having to mess about with packaging and shipping, paying fees (if sold through ebay and having to accept Paypal), etc. is it really worth the extra effort to get a bit extra over melt? This depends on the individual seller but to me it's not and I would just go the local dealer route. As a side note, this is the only way things would have been done in times past. Modern technology has a tendency to make things more complicated, unfortunately.
And the eBay/PayPal conspiracy makes things a lot worse than they need to be... it's to the point now where I offer free shipping to buyers on single coin lots who pay by traditional methods.
