Book, it sounds like you are saying that the link for political content was on the youtube site, not here. If you find such content on CT, mod or not, send it to Doug. He sincerely believes that ALL , including me and you, are treated the same in relation to the rules. Go ahead, have the courage, do a conversation with him, and send him the political link you say a mod made, or Peter. Or just do what you do, just repeat innuendoes. CT doesn't moderate youtube.com, our rules do not apply to their site and visa versa.
What I have a hard time understanding is why people are not just employing the "block user" feature and ignoring the said poster? It really is simple and effective.
I did that quite a while back. That said, it would help if the mods moved some of his non-CRH related stuff posted on the CRH Forum to the proper CoinTalk Forums (such as Coin Chat and U.S. Coins Forum) so that those who have not used the ignore function like us would have less to gripe about.
As a member, I would like to see a subforum just for all videos , music, film clips etc., because 99% of the ones interspersed within coin areas are personal commentary, jokes, personal likes or dislikes they don't know how to articulate within the rules, etc. Then a person who like such can have them all at once, and coin threads could be only the meat and not the 'feathers'. Jim
Wow, gemmy... I'm touched that you were able to see yourself buried in all my innuendo. Just warms my little heart, sir! Tell you what.. When you can summon the courage to start leading by example, and hold yourself to the same standard you demand of others, I'll try to find the "courage" to say privately what can just as easily be said openly. Sound good?
I put the member in question on my ignore list and had just about forgotten about him. On ignore, you don't see the threads he starts or any of his posts. Really nice. Onward and upward!
If you had it, you would have already played that card. Bluster . Send it to Doug. If it is what you pretend it to be, he will take action. If not, he won't.
I agree. I actually think this thread (and it being pinned) is just encouraging more trouble, to be honest.
Come on jim. Most of those types of videos linked make a point or joke that is relative to the thread. How stuffy this place would become. I suppose all emoji use should be relegated to a separate subforum too. You can make @Insider the mod
Great idea but ONLY IF without changing the ability to snipe using cartoons and video humor: When posting on the new "humor/video thread" all members who were posting on the original thread would be alerted. In that way, any members reading the "meat" + the "jokes" as now, would only see the "meat" and after getting the alert would need to go to the "new" place to see the original post that the video or humor was directed at. Sounds too complicated. Agree. No change and I get to keep the 's
I have never frequented other coin forums since I am a happenstance collector and don't have much interest in getting into the really technical numismatic details. The people on CT can get so technical that I can't get into it, and yet there is a sense of humor that is maintained and a vibe that makes people on here come over as real as opposed to a machine that I would deposit a coin into and it would spew out a book of information.
Just as Want To Sell / Buy is a separate category, it feels like @Silver Searcher has invented a new genre, too. I like the idea of a separate forum for audio/ video posts, even if he's the only poster for a while. How about we give him space to develop and see where it goes? We may not like the self-promotion at the moment, but maybe he could take the topics of some of the threads and turn them into informative videos. In the threads there is a lot of good information but it is scattered through many posts. There's a lot of material if he wants to develop his craft. This could be mutually beneficial if we let it.
You just want the roll hunting to be "meat." I got it but IMO, Jim is addressing the big picture. No I did not...It is Latin. This type of humor is what I WANT TO KEEP in the threads.
Lets review some of your greatest hits, shall we? Just a few of many, but then we have this little tidbit with no warnings, belittling, or threats made (by you) because of it... I wonder why? Now, it's just a link and no harm in that, right? Oh, but wait.... So let me get this straight... A innocently posted link, meant only as an FYI to possibly interested collectors regarding some dumb token, was removed simply because it contained secondary political content, and you speak down to the membership as if otherworldly morons for daring to ask why, yet you can post a link containing religious content, demanding no one question it, and it's perfectly acceptable? Perhaps it was because your link was religious and the others political? Perhaps I should double check the rules as you incessantly suggest... "Basically it’s common sense. Just about every person on the planet has heard the saying – “never discuss politics and/or religion”. Why ? Because it starts fights, arguments and causes nothing but hate and discontent. If you wish to discuss politics and or religion, then go someplace else. We don’t allow it here." Seems to combine the two and treat them equally, doesn't it? Of course we can also go back to your above-quoted posts to see how little tolerance was given to any sort of posted content against the rules, so is it safe to assume you sent yourself one of those super special little "inappropriate content" warnings? After all.... Unbelievable? Indeed... but I still can't help but wonder why, if.... Then what's so hard about no religion? Gem forbid you hold yourself to the same standard you demand of others and belittle them for not living up to ("lead by example"). Buster? Indeed.
