With the price of silver over $20/ounce, the market value of the pucks is also spiking. It is nice to see that they seem to have considerable collector value in addition to just silver value.

With the issuance of the Harper's Ferry puck, I thought it would be a good time for an update on the mintage versus market value information. The Hawaii puck is still holding good value with the Acadia pretty good but slipping a little. The Hot Springs, Yellowstone, Gettysburg, and Olympic pucks seem to gaining value with the Chickasaw getting little respect despite its relatively low mintage. The Blue Ridge seems overvalued to me. The early and unexpected sellout seem to be keeping its value higher than otherwise would be expected. As a note, it is a little difficult to judge market value on some pucks with little sales volume on the bay.

With the release of the Teddy Roosevelt puck, I thought it would be a good time to update the puck values versus mintage. Teddy seemed to have a good opening week with over 16,000 pucks sold in just 4 days. The recent decrease in silver prices has had some negative effect on the puck values in general. Hawaii and Acadia are still holding value but the Blue Ridge is dropping back to earth. The first year pucks seem to be lingering at low points. The Shawnee got some boost from its recent sell-out.

As I've been updating values of the collector pucks, I notice that some folks are selling empty boxes with the COA for prices that often get $15. I can understand why someone wants to sell the box as they got it graded and no longer need the box. I'm not sure why would buy the empty box though? You can't put a bullion version of the puck into the box and try to pass it off as a collector puck as it is a totally different finish. Do that many people damage their box and need a new one?

I bought a graded Hawaii without the box and later bought a box so that it would be complete.

If the coin is graded, it wouldn't really fit into the box unless you removed the insert. How do you display the graded puck with the box? Just curious.
