I've collected CACed coins since John allowed me to be a authorized collector. I believe I've seen considerable misinformation about CAC in this thread, both Pro and Con. Since they've started I've probably averaged 2 coins a week of 3 to 5 digit sum worth, mostly pre-1933 U.S. Gold. I will admit there are CACed coins out in existence with questionable grades, but I also admit I believe there are some "copy" beans on questionable grade Top Tier graded "junk". I believe the coin/bean worth is only a function of the buyer grading capabilities. JMHO
I think this is some sort of linguistic experiment. If it’s not the sticker raising the price then what is it? Spiritual guidance?
I think I got it, he said “just because a person puts a sticker”… This is technically correct. It’s the “a person that’s the play on words”.
Not that it is important at all, and God knows my linguistics confuse many all the time and all most some of the time, as to meaning and intent, But, your 2 posts above this post by me, raised the bar to unmatchable height as to meaning and intent. I am old. I forget things.
I’m old too. I’m just trying to figure out what this guys saying. I’ve played CAC and it works for my clients. MAC I think is McDonald’s. I however, prefer the Whopper.
I just think what you are trying to do your best to figure out what the Op was or is trying to say, is on an equal level of interpreting Custer was the victor at Little Bighorn.
Aside from the comment you made and your apparent loyalty to a company that places stickers on the "outside" of a capsule after it is graded, here is the latest description of MAC and CAC: MAC (Modern Approved Coin) grading is a system that adds a sticker to coins that meet specific criteria, similar to the CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) stickers. The MAC sticker is used to designate coins that are considered to have exceptional characteristics for their grade, often referred to as “premium quality” (PQ) coins12. MAC stickers can be applied to coins that have already been graded and encapsulated by major grading services like PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) or NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation). The goal is to highlight coins that may have been undergraded or possess unique features that add value2. Some collectors find the MAC sticker useful for identifying high-quality coins, while others are more skeptical about its added value compared to established grading systems3. By the way, MAC is no longer in business.
Figure out what difference? Both of them add a sticker to the outside of a graded coin capsule with their supposed belief they are validating the graded already given or creating a higher grade or significance through the plastic capsule. Now you and other seem to subscribe to this and believe this is possible and pay additional money for these coins with a sticker. If you are that ignorant and wish to raise this idiot to make more money too, go ahead but, we other numismatics will abide by what is true and verifiable. How gullible and impressionable are you to believe their crap and then challenge and call others names when they prove to you it is crap? Real sad.
I ran across a new article that states these stickers are worth what they say and their apparent influence on coin collectors is pretty unbelievable. Now, the dedication you state is not mine, it is yours and others that still remain loyal to a sticker that is put on the outside of a graded coin capsule with their supposed belief they are validating the graded already given or creating a higher grade or significance through the plastic capsule. Coins are sent in to NGC and PCGS raw and in plastic flips so they can be graded accurately yet, you believe this can be done through a plastic capsule? And you stand by your belief, that is dedication and insanity. Good luck in fantasy land.
Well, hotly replying to someone who hasn't been on the site since 2022 is certainly one way to go for "having the last word".
I think @baseball21 has been banned anyway so that takes it to the next level of having the last word. Daniel seems to be striving for the same fate.
First of all, I have no idea these people were not still on Coin talk. Secondly, it is very funny that none of you will defend or try to justify your argument as to why you believe CAC could, in some way, ascertain a grade or designation through a plastic capsule even though NHC and PCGS can't and don't. Instead, you call me names and believe that validates your point and it doesn't. On the contrary, it makes you more ignorant than you were on your first statement including more foolish and gullible too. Keep following, I will lead. Good day.
It's a shame you can't do anything but insult others. I guess I'll be next on your list. Your lack of understand makes you sound stupid. Take some time to understand this site. Actually you need to understand the hobby before you start insulting those that have lived it for 50 years plus. Stop acting like a 13 year old kid.
You crack me up. I only came to see why a two year old thread was resurrected, haven't read any of it, and yet here you are on the attack over an opinion you think I have about something. Best wishes in your enjoyment of this hobby, I guess.
[ as someone who has actually graded a coin in a holder and has done over fifty times for my own collection (why would I buy a coin that I don’t think is AT LEAST the grade on the slab?) yeah I can grade a coin in a slab. Your logic here is that because you can’t do it no one can. It’s an odd stance arguing in essence that because you can’t speak say German that no one can. And just for fun…. How many green and gold beans do I have in my collection? My magic beans will not be discussed here.
