Your sorting box, and what may be found there

  1. I emptied my "purgatory" box today, for the first time in a few months and am attributing and printing flips at work (or will be). I haven't even started yet... I keep on looking at content posted by you people.

I still have 30-40 more, mostly severan denarii, that I still have to do as well. Bittersweet.

@iamtiberius if this is too much for you, send them my way. I'll be glad to help out. You probably won't get them back though.

Wow, would love to attribute and print flips for those. They look wonderful.

When I receive a coin in a flip marked 'not for long term storage' I take that to mean about five minutes after I get in the door. Oddly, the same pattern applies to coins received in archival envelopes.

And I thought I buy a lot of coins. :p Some seriously good looking coins in there.

  8. I went a little overboard the last few months. Greek silver just looks so good in person.

Thanks to those pictures I now know you've Clio'd me on one of those coins. Auction 376, Lot 223. I'm pretty sure I was bidding on that one and lost it. Now I know who got it. Congrats

  10. Speaking of which; I should probably change my auction handle from "Iamtiberius" so no one feels like they can't bid against me. (I think anyone should, regardless, if it's the lot they want.) I might be able to contact CNG and have them manually change it so I don't lose my account history.

Gawd! What an assortment! My box has some ancients...all bronze and a few tokens that need to get attributed and calipers. Sigh.

  14. Yeah, but did you take a 2nd mortgage out on your house just to buy them? Just kidding. This is several months worth of acquisitions. I also don't buy many bronze coins. I think I may have raccoon in my lineage. Shiny or go home. I think I subconsciously covered half of the only bronze in the photo. ha.

  15. I wish I had coin friends nearby. I would love to go to someone's house and sort through/attribute for hours; even if none of them belonged to me. That would be the life. I'm more of a coffee guy, though. ;)

  16. Some of these Tetradrachms are getting tiresome... maybe I'll post some make-shift competition soon. I don't know.

Do you always leave half-eaten squares of chocolate in your sorting box, Noob?

Most of the time - many are hard to attribute, especially when they start to melt.

Is that a barbaric imitation of an Antoninianus right in the middle, Ancientnoob? It looks almost like silver.
