I have seen some fake SilverTowne 1 ounce silver bars on Ebay recently. I know someone who bought one and it sticks to a magnet. The "O" in SilverTowne is filled in and the "e" also looks filled in on the bars. And the bars are in snap together cases that I've seen other counterfeit bars in. Also, the prospector's ax head does not have a handle attached, but it looks like it is floating over his shoulder. I found this listing on Ebay and it is the same type of bar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/385496978866?_trkparms=amclksrc=ITM&aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160811114145&meid=b1b0e014b7f64df2ad2d887662a2e014&pid=100667&rk=1&rkt=1&sd=385496978866&itm=385496978866&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2351460&brand=SilverTowne&_trksid=p2351460.c100667.m2042&LH_BO=1 Just trying to help others.
This 1st Photo is from the SilverTowne website. It shows authentic bars with a normal "O" and "e" in the name "SilverTowne. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 2nd photo below shows the fake bar. Notice how the "O" and "e" on SilverTowne are filled in.
It says it was ended by the seller because it was lost or broken, I guess we can fill-in the blank for fake..LOL
Beware, another seller is listing these fake bars, here are links to his fake bar auctions: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295589262796?hash=item44d27e35cc:g:dBUAAOSwf4FkIIdO https://www.ebay.com/itm/295586952435?hash=item44d25af4f3:g:dBUAAOSwf4FkIIdO
I see 4 feedbacks. One genuine bar and some sold fakes. I reported the one with bids on it to eBay. Sadly eBay doesn't allow me to describe why it's a fake bar. Not that eBay cares? It's lost revenue for them. I was looking to upload the picture to eBay. I did send eBay a link to the fake bullion page. Should list an ad on ebay that says For all the people who don't know any better and are throwing you're money away on these fakes... SEND ME A DOLLAR if you bought a fake silvertowne silver bar on eBay. This Public Service Announcement will save you money...Educate yourself.
Every time we see a fake silvertowne silver bar listed we should contact the seller and send the seller this https://www.fakebullion.com/index.php/component/k2/item/15-silvertowne-1-ounce-silver-bar
Community eBay does have a PSA https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selli...ilver-bars-must-see-counterfeit/td-p/25833751
I appreciate all of the great information everyone is sharing. I feel it is important to get the word out about these fakes. I hope we can help others by bringing attention to this.
One of the sellers responded with thanks he's going to remove the listing. It's got 9 minutes left and at $31.00 with $6.65 shipping IF anyone wants to bid He said he didn't know it was a fake, he bought them from a dealer. I responded back with if you don't have any way to test silver Cut one in half...see if you can return them to your dealer. This seller with 1700+ feedbacks I'd think knows better?? His description doesn't say it's a silvertowne bar and says it's in a vinyl sleeve. Picture clearly shows a hard plastic case, YET has 12 different bidders PROSPECTOR MULE & TOOLS BAR 1 OUNCE 999 FINE SILVER SEALED VINYL SLEEVE
It is great that you are sending the sellers examples of fakes. I have contacted sellers also. I did notice that some of the fakes have some new issues like I mentioned in earlier posts with some of the letters being filled in and even the handle of the prospector's pick missing. It looks like more fakes are being produced with different varieties. Thanks again for helping others!!!
I “loss” has nothing to do with the silver spot price. Unless you know what he paid for them you don’t know if he’s selling them at a loss.
Yet another fake bar just listed on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295589435669?hash=item44d280d915:g:dBUAAOSwf4FkIIdO
I asked the seller if these were legitimate silvertowne.999 silver bars. Before I send them a chart I'll see if they know they are fake and report to Feebay. I'd almost be tempted to buy it and report it as fake after and get my money returned. Maybe that would get this seller attention?
The seller replied with. Yes Would not have listed. You have not bought one from me anyway. Guess he thinks they are real, maybe I didn't send this seller the link to the fakes. Seller said they would refund my money after I return the item... I asked if I sent them the fakebullion.com picture before? then sent it.
