Cucumbor....magnificent examples! Nice to see so many nice coins. Like your photography with black background! Better.....then mine, as someone pointed out (on a Christmas Card)
Doug's point-- a good one-- is that "FDC" doesn't just mean "perfect preservation". It also takes into account die state, artistry, strike, and style. Just because a coin is as-struck and without die flaws does not mean it is automatically FDC, although personal tastes may lead to disagreement about whether a given coin is or isn't FDC.
Probably the closest I have to 'perfection' is this denarius of Maximinus...the 'shadows' actually help depict the high relief on this example....
What fantastic coins all! For the 'lowly' collectors like me, I shall show my 'best' example. Licinius I, RIC VII. Antioch 12, (R.5.) (Worn dies?)
Those are the best Lakshmi plaque coins I could find in all the world. Check out the thread "Feast Your Eyes" https://www.cointalk.com/threads/fe...ura-kingdom-plaque-coins.267075/#post-2208717

Stunning coins, you have quite a good eye for quality! Cucumbor....You and the others who posted these beauties, have made me join your club. I too, will now begin a collect of Roman AR coins. Sad to say, with the Aureus types, you have to work a year just to buy one. John
Good on ya John..... most of these are AE though, albeit silvered. not necessarily cheaper because they are bronze, often more expensive in top grades!!
